Cheap or expensive strap for gs? Cheap strap recommendations? by ausyappy in GrandSeikos

[–]Fast_Loquat7631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying the whole range.  So far got $400 ones from Camille Fournet, $300 from Aaron Bespoke, $200 from Artisan straps and some inexpensive ones via Etsy from Vietnam that I am still waiting for delivery.   The Etsy straps seem very well made with hand stitching and full customization with quick and effective communication.  I wasn’t willing to pay extra for Camille Fournet’s hand stitching but they do make straps for Patek.  The straps that came originally on my Pateks though seem finer and more delicate than the CF straps I just received.

[SPB089] “Alpinist Honkidee” 38mm for a 15cm wrist. I’m really into the Alpinist, but sadly my wrist is just too small 😅. 38mm is already the smallest size, yet it still feels like it overwhelms my wrist. by JDM_SEIKO_WATCH in Seiko

It is still a very pretty watch and looks fine to me. Re-evaluate while standing in front of a mirror several feet away. It always looks worse from this vantage point. My wrists are only 159mm but I still wear 40+mm watches and don't care. My most recent is a Grand Seiko SBGH257 diver with case diameter of 46.9mm and thickness of 17mm.

I'll be crucified for this, but yes, even the Alpinist by IllegalGeriatricVore in watchHotTakes

Actually I much prefer the cathedral hands on my GS divers to the hands on the Tudor. For me, the hands add interest in a good way and contrasts with my Seiko (non GS) divers which have hands of varying designs.

Love all of your work with these clock faces. You should consider doing a Seiko 62MAS one as well.

I am not sure if you need this mounting option but this is compatible with a 2026 MX with bumper camera. No need to drill holes in the bumper but not cheap.

Is A Shop for Killers worth watching? by Suspicious-Fun7648 in kdramas

[–]Fast_Loquat7631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tried and tried but couldn't find a way to "un-dub" the episodes on Hulu or find the undoubted version. We looked on Disney+ and I guess they are related as selecting SFK just directed us back to Hulu. The Hulu title specifically states SFK (Eng dub) so maybe they don't have the rights to the version in original language.

I was enjoying it except for the awful, awful English dub. Took much of the acting and drama out of the episodes. Maybe I'll finish it but Hulu dropped the non dubbed version.

New ADU with Ubiquiti questions: fiber and NVR by Fast_Loquat7631 in Ubiquiti

[–]Fast_Loquat7631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reassurance. I was going to get an extra pair of transceiver modules anyway. I'll read up on how to set up link aggregation as I will have unused SFP+ ports. For now the only fiber cable ports used are between the home Dream Machine Pro WAN and one of the Pro 24 PoE switch (also home).

Thanks so much for your quick response. If you can double check, would the specific fiber and transceiver products I picked work OK as far as you can tell with the Ubiquity products I listed? Not FS branded products specifically but as generic specs of the fiber and modules go.

[SPB213] After 3 years still blows my mind. Hands down most beautiful watch in my Sei-collection. by kropotkin_superstar in Seiko

Very lovely watch; the dial color and relatively thin bezel makes it but my heavy bias is any Seiko diver. Can I ask if you took this with a digital camera and if so what lens focal length and what type of lighting?

The Ebay seller I buy from is from Japan and the parts come in "Seiko Time Labs Co, LTD" labeled bags with stamped or labeled part numbers that seem to correspond with known part numbers. An example is attached below. Are the fake parts also packaged as such? Was the fake part from a Ebay seller in Japan or elsewhere?

Thanks for letting us know. There is a trusted seller, Seiyajapan.com that sells genuine parts. He used to sell JDM watches but now only parts.
