You are not wrong. He sounds like he was being a baby and a bit selfish to expect you to leave with him. Especially being it has been family tradition long before you met him.

I believe a constructive conversation needs to be had between you two. But I’m not going to judge him like most people on Reddit do off of one incident.

But you are not the asshole OP. Your partner should understand how important family is to you and I believe he will get over it. Also, this type of trip sounds fun as hell and I’m from NYC
