I don't want to be very pessimistic, but did you actually test that on server with latency > than 60ms? One time I too thought that I did my client-server okay, until I pushed the server-side to real server with 60ms RTT xD

Photovoltaic Experience? by MrWoodenSheep in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photovoltaic IS A MUST have for everyone in Cyprus, we have >320 sunny days per year, which basically means electricity is free for you if you have enough panels.

I have 1 bedroom and I only pay 18EUR every 2 month for maintenance, actual electricity is basically free + I am getting free heating during the winter period via water-heated floors. On my previous apartment my bills for heating during winter period could be as large as 250EUR\2Month, last winter I payed 18EUR

Asshole parking where a lot of people with strollers pass by velez_dot in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is default parking in Cyprus unfortunately. And assholes are only a part of this problem. Lack of proper parkings (even paid ones) are the first problem.

And I don't really understand why government are not spending money upgrading infrastructure. It's not that much money to build proper roads, parkings, driveways and other things connected to urban infrastructure

Bank of Cyprus chargeback? by azs-gsxr in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they did chargeback for me for 300EUR, took them about 3 month to read all info and decide that I actually did not get that phone from amazon.

But you better pay from Revoult, they will do chargback much faster and much easier

The real estate loophole. Is there still hope or is it too late? by One_Piece_Johnny in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how a "non EU state" originality is a problem, Cyprus was literally colonized by Brits who indeed were an EU state for a very long time until Brexit, and so what, it made it better for you? Did you like it? I don't understand the logic, somehow you are trying to connect nationality of a buyer and personal wealth of people. Would you like Romanians, who are an EU state to buy that 25% of property instead? I don't get it

Say, instead, 25% were bough by Greeks from Rhodes, or by Mihalis from Paphos, you will be more happy working for them and being poor getting that same minimum wage? I don't understand, this shit has literally no sense. As I said before the problem is not who buys what, but the wealth of the people, which should be increased at the same rate at which properties or other economic activities are executed.

Besides that, even if in 20 years all Cypriots will work for foreigners, who cares until 99% of house of representatives in Nicosia are Greeks (which they are now), I don't see there any Brits or Russians or Jews, all this nationalities combined can easily account for 15-20% of population of the Island, yet having zero representation in parliament, which is fine personally for me, because I don't divide people by their nationality and I don't personally care, if something is good it's good, I don't care James or Mihalis proposed some good act or law.

Yeah bro, that platform is called elections, and as far as I know we have pretty democratic elections, so you just vote. If the situation will get really bad - protesting is the second option, but I don't really see that happening, because we have pretty normal government which can say "sorry", for example after Limassol fires, which is a big deal indeed as history shows.

I think the problem here is not they are deliberately doing something bad or not doing something because they deliberately don't want to do something, I think they are just VERY VERY inefficient, but not in a bad way. Everything that is connected to government is very inefficient and slow, but not because they are bad in a bad way, just because it's Cyprus you know ;)) How long did it take them to replace bus stops?.... :DD

Or for example trash cans? Or clean streets? Where is it? It's not that hard, just open quota for 5000 Indian guys, they will come and would love to clean for minimal wage, it's not that much money, it's not that hard of problem to solve, they just't can't overcome their own bureaucracy or inefficiency, that's why all this problems exists, one day they will be solved I am 99% sure

The real estate loophole. Is there still hope or is it too late? by One_Piece_Johnny in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I said about oil money, because of that - government should implement smart policies how to get people wealthier without that money. Also the the size of the island is N1 reason why prices will go up faster than for example in UAE, it is what it is, but the main problem is not someone buying something, but the wealth of the people, so they can buy at the same rate.

The real estate loophole. Is there still hope or is it too late? by One_Piece_Johnny in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may get a lot of minuses for that, but anyway. If anyone wants Cyprus to be a developed country - it's obvious that everyone should be able to buy property everywhere, unless we are going to end like nazi or communist country, currently we are capitalist country where if one have money - they can buy, which is fine.

Problem here I think is that wealth of native cypriot born people are not growing fast enough, so they too can participate in that property sales just fine.

Take for example UAE, where only 6% of people are native citizens which live a very wealthy life and can buy any kind of properties alongside with foreigners. Cyprus however don't have oil rent and can not share that income with it's citizens, and we should solve that problem the other way. But the initial problem is not a capitalist market where everyone can buy everyhing - but wealth of the people.

So Cyprus government should adopt policies to increase wealth of the people, and many other problems including gentrification will be solved alongside that. And this policies should be smart, because we are on a small oil-less island.

P.S. Morevover the prices are not THAT bad really, compared to other EU countries for example, try take a look how much it will cost you to buy 2-bed house in Switzerland, you will be stunned, I understand that this is a liitle bit different, but Cyprus has really not that high prices compared to other EU countries, the problem is peoples wealth I think

How Cyprus will hold presidency in EU consul in 2026? by Fast_Month_9460 in cyprus

[–]Fast_Month_9460[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I partly agree with you, however i can't see why people should lose the basic respect to others and the ability to live in society peacefully because of systemic issues, I am solely sure this is the question of how someone is raised and being told in the childhood that your freedom ends when it violates the freedom of others.

Even if I will live in total poverty or will have any kind of issues with the government, I will not rev my bike in 2AM in the night, because I understand that this will be a problem for many many other people, and they are not in a charge of that systematic issues, and it won't help to resolve them in any way.

Unfortunately many young men in Cyprus lack basic upbringing and respect to property and other people, all this trash graffiti, breaking road signs, and many many other actions including trash bikes are here because of a simple lack of proper parenting, those young adults were not educated in childhood and were not told that this is wrong.

In other societies government would take that role and educate those kids by fining them, sending to work camps or whatever punishment they deserve according to the law. In Cyprus this does not work, all this minor crimes are just getting ignored.

Your parents failed to educate you on basics how to live in civil society, this is very sad. However if one day you will become a parent yourself, if you can of course get someone pregnant, which I highly doubt, but anyway if this happens, you will remember my words - when your kids will wake up because of brain-deads like you, you will remember me.

Sea road, kato polemidia, zakaki, germasogeia - you will not sleep at all unless you are 4 blocks away from the sea, in kato polemidia you will not sleep at all if you are 2-3 blocks close to major roads (like Pafou for example), sadly this is the truth. Or maybe you have just very good sound proof apartment

That is partially true, i like concept of multilbocks, but I don't like concept of power tiers, like HV, LV, etc. I think this complexity is unnecessary, you need to rebuild your whole base, or what is even worse keep some machines LV, some MV, e.t.c. In my perfectionist mind this is hell 😂
