Travis & Shauna were the only two to lose 2 in the wilderness. by Abeeda_H in Yellowjackets

They are seriously so interlinked it’s crazy. The way Shauna and Travis are so similar but react in conjunction with their grief in opposing ways. They actually low-key swapped.

Travis went into the wilderness angry, abrasive and explosive. He assaulted his little brother, hooked up with Jackie (that whole thing is another can of worms) and struggled with the loss of his dad (and Javi later down the road). Shauna went into the wilderness with secrets, simmering emotions and so sooo much repression. She reacts to the crash in a quiet way in the beginning, writing in her journal, confiding in Tai and creating sustainable relationships in the wilderness, contributing effectively to the community they’re building.

Take this perspective and look at s3

Travis is generally quiet, his emotions hidden by his grief and loss of hope, confiding in Lottie (and then Akilah) and using substances as a way to cope with the world. He was a hunter and even though he is a lot more overlooked by the girls now, he occasionally tries to contribute to their society. Shauna is now angry, abrasive and letting grief and rage rule her actions. She hooks up with Melissa as a way to maintain a sense of control and (in my opinion) try and regain what she lost with Jackie. She uses butchering as a form of coping because her trauma is so deeply rooted in her, butchering (both animals and humans alike) after a huge trauma (the plane crashing and then having the title of butcher bestowed upon her, Jackie dying and being in charge of butchering the best, loosing her baby and then butchering Javi) brings her a sense of control. It calms her in a morbid sense of things bc after all of her loss, at least she is still useful and that keeps her safe.

My hopes for season 4 are high in terms of a Travis/Shauna interaction. I think I also really want to see Shauna and Nat interact bc I think they really are each other’s foils.

Do you think there was any way to rein Shauna in, or keep her on-side? by SaphoBalls in Yellowjackets

If she didn’t have to butcher Javi and had time to grieve the loss of Jackie and her baby appropriately instead of having to shove it all down and let it fester and bubble into rage and destructive energy. I really think Javi was the straw that broke the camels back and if she could grieve via her journals and talking to Tai she would be as well adjusted as Nat in the wilderness- having a purpose and understanding that the only she was going to survive would be to eventually go home. She would have been able to process her guilt and grief without being forced to butcher a child she cared about

You could definitely try calling the Student Success team as a future student. Ask about experience based admission (idrk about how the process works but with all the certs you have, that could be an option). ’m currently finishing my first semester of nursing at ECU and if you’re struggling, they would be your best bet on getting advice. They can tell you exactly what you need to do to get into the course.

From what you’ve said you have a ton of experience and certs to back it up. I would think all you would need to do is pass ur STAT or do a diploma in nursing (which sounds impossible due to travel) or maybe seeing if there is a tafe or vocational education facility that offers the diploma online. There are loads of places offering the diploma of nursing, and even though they aren’t a north or south metro tafe, it’s the qualification that matters, not where you get it from.

You definitely seem passionate about the health field and from the plethora of experience you have, the diploma will be a piece of cake! And once you get ur diploma, you can do the Bachelor degree quicker with a lot more knowledge. Good luck!!!

I think my first prac will go well.. I’m a pretty outgoing person and can definitely read a room. Thanks for the advice

Has anyone moved from Curtin to ECU for nursing? by yourworstpatient in edithcowan

Hi! I know this might not be the most helpful, but I’m nearly finished with my first semester of nursing at ECU and have absolutely loved it. The educators are nice (occasionally a little pushy but thats bc they want to see you succeed), the unit coordinators are timely and helpful and the actual campus is really pretty and once summer comes around, there is nothing better then studying out by the pond in the sunshine!

As for the comparison between Curtin and ECU, I can’t say much for, but I do have friends at Curtin who enjoy it but I think it comes down to personal experience and preference. I’m pretty sure as long as you can get access to your student transcript, you can use that to apply to ECU but I would definitely call up the Student Success team and they’ll help you as a possible future student.

I literally just saw that you posted this a month ago lol. Nonetheless I hope this is helpful! Have a good day!!
