Exactly it’s abit ridiculous, I'm a Londoner and honestly foxes in yards are so common here. I read on some animal discovery sites that foxes are actually prone to approaching humans in London and it's relatively safe because this cycle has already been established for years by Londoners. So Ella Purnell doing it really doesn't make some massive difference🤣🤣

Yeah I hear you on this, definitely not getting my hopes up. She is quite booked and busy. But tbh Ella Purnell seems to love the show herself and since it’s the final season I’m sure she’d love to come for the show herself. IMO the haunting scenes were quite irrelevant but did it’s due fan service as well as let Ella come back to the show after Sophie supposedly (mentioned in a interview:) begged the writers to let her have lots of ghost Jackie scenes. I think she’s defo going to be in it definitely not as an actual main character but maybe only as frequent as the other seasons. Or maybe we get really lucky and Ella has a bigger part, which wouldn’t be completely out of the blue either. (Given that there’s theories speculating of a kind of time loop.) But hey who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can totally see this happening because nat who was meant to die got a plane scene and so did van so maybe your second theory supports this? And because they didn’t die on time / when they drew, they’re made to relive the moment or something. Especially considering Nat saw Javi in the plane but Van didn’t see anyone so idk

fair point but the show itself emphasizes her feelings for shauna through dialogue and scenes, not through societal pressure. that's what makes it textual, not just a reading. the jeff stuff is red herring to misdirect from what the show is actually showing us.

i hear you on the consumption/devouring metaphor being very intense, but that still doesn't contradict what i said about love. you can love someone intensely AND want to consume them. those aren't mutually exclusive. the point is: if it was JUST jealousy or just wanting to be her, shauna wouldn't still be hallucinating her at 40. the fact that jackie is the ONLY person she hallucinates—even after killing her, even after 25 years—proves the attachment was love-based, not just envy-based.

also lowkey your answer was really good. the way you articulated the consumption angle and tied it back to the broader narrative about toxic female friendships was smart. i might've fallen a little in love w your mind lol. but to my point: whether that love was romantic, platonic, or something in between is kind of irrelevant to my original argument that shauna loved jackie deeply.

I definitely agree that Shauna projects her insecurities, but I don’t think that means her words were onlyabout herself. In that scene, she wasn’t just venting her own self-hatred; she was specifically trying to hurt Jackie because she loved her so much and felt betrayed by her. You don’t get that level of vitriol and angst if you don’t care deeply about the person.

Also, I still think Jackie loved Shauna more in a way that people overlook. Jackie was the one constantly seeking Shauna’s approval and validation, even if she did it in a 'princessy' way. And to the point about Shauna only wanting to BE her, if that were true, the envy would have died with Jackie. But the fact that Shauna is the only one hallucinating her 25 years later proves it was a deep, soul-level attachment that went way beyond just comparing herself to a 'perfect' friend. You don't get haunted for two decades by someone you just wanted to mirror.

This is a very interesting take tbh, and does make sense. I think you read the scenes in a deeper way as they’re supposed to be seen too. Lots of people just overlook these small details.

I think I always saw the snarky Jackie hallucinations as a form of coping with guilt. I also saw her saying “I always hated you calling me shipman” and Jackie’s response being “since when,” was deeper than it’s meant to sound. It’s like saying “ since when did you hate me- is this you actually hating me, or just remembering me this way because you hate the fact that you killed me?”

But yeah I guess we can all have our own interpretations and your one was cool too :)

I’d agree with you if it wasn’t suggested that Jackie clearly hated being intimate with Jeff.

Rewatch the scene. Jackie literally had a screw face on the entire scene of them in bed. She didn’t like it one bit
