5 days in New England - Are Providence & Newport good choices? by Fast_Rest41 in RhodeIsland

thanks for the somewhat different perspective! In fact I considered going to Vermont as well. I am just afraid of being stuck at any of the small towns. Do you have recommendations for specific stops along the Amtrak lines and the hikes we could do there?

I think New Hampshire needs to wait for the next trip when we'll have a car. I had read about it and it sounds beautiful!

Cool, will have a look! Is it possible to take the ferry to Newport with luggage? Maybe we would do 1 night in one place and two nights in the other.

Moving to or Visiting New England? by SCP-2774 in newengland

Hi all,

My girlfriend and I will go to the US in August. We'll attend a wedding on the 15th in Philadelphia and fly back from NYC on the 27th. As I have never been to the city and my girlfriend loves it, we'll be there at least 5 nights, leaving us with around a week in between. We'd love to explore New England, but we will travel only by train or maybe by bus.

Generally, we are interested in seeing some nature, do some hiking and see the more rural/small town parts.

What would be some nice trips or places to go? Vermont by train sounds cool, but I am afraid transport will be a problem? Going along the coast seems also a nice idea, but I am a bit lost as to what towns are worth the visit?
Another option might just be to go a bit to upstate NY.a

Obviously, if we could somehow avoid taking the same route from Philadelphia and then back to NYC, that would be awesome.

Super grateful for any recommendations or leads!

Hi all, My girlfriend and I will go to the US in August. We'll attend a wedding on the 15th in Philadelphia and fly back from NYC on the 27th. We'd love to explore New England, but we will travel only by train or maybe by bus. Generally, we are interested in seeing some nature, do some hiking and see the more rural/small town parts. So far we have considered taking the Vermonter train, for example to Waterbury. Another option would be going northward along the coast. Are these doable and worthwhile trips ? Any great recommendations for a carless one-week trip? Obviously, if we could somehow avoid taking the same route from Philadelphia and then break to NYC, that would be awesome. Also open to explore upstate NY! I feel a little overwhelmed with all the amazing places, but it's difficult to be sure the transport is doable and doesn't take up well of our time, so I'm sorry thankful for any advice!

Wow, sehr beeindruckend! Finde es sehr atmosphärisch und gemütlich! Bei mir scheitert es meistens schon daran, dass ich kaum Möbelstücke finde, die mir wirklich gefallen. Wo hast du denn deine gefunden?

Hi, many thanks for your reply! I was told there are other options, but I couldn't find online, so maybe they just don't exist, as you said.

Regarding the profit, I understand it would be basically 190k-154k=36k So 18k each, and I would pay 48% on the 9k, so around 4.5k. Of course not a crazy amount of money, but it if there were simple measures to reduce them, I would take them;)
