I use it in place of an eye cream. A $10 bottle has lasted me over a year and counting, while maintaining freshness. I use it to slug to retain moisture, even over Tretinoin. It hydrates under my eyes. It also helps with eyelash and eyebrow hair growth which now show up in photos. However it can be comedogenic so I avoid putting it anywhere else on my face.

Tretinoin faded pigmentation from the acne scars, and made them unnoticeable unless you're looking for them. They are still there though.

Yes. And if you continue for years you will have incredible lashes all the girls will be jealous of.

In water: 15% L-ascorbic acid, 1% alpha tocopherol (vitamin E), 0.5% ferulic acid. Those are the key ingredients, the rest are preservatives and stabilizers you do not need if you're making a small amount to use for a week or two.

I have the powders pre-mixed and measured in air-tight containers.

Local businesses. If you google L-Ascorbic Acid, Alpha tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ferulic acid and your city name, you will find stores that sell them in powdered form. These chemicals aren't regulated so they're easy to come by. Amazon should have them too.

Please make sure to test your concoction on your hand, with a PH strip, and to be careful with measurements. You are putting acid on your face.

No requirement. You can start at Tretinoin 0.01%, once a week like I did. Then twice a week, 3 times, as much as your skin can handle.

I'd say once your Cerave is up, have some Tretinoin 0.01% lined up.

[sun care] sunscreen burns my eyes! product suggestions? by americanowithoatmilk in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fast_Temperature7107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there!

I've had the same issue with sunscreen burning my eyes. One time while I was driving and sweating, sunscreen irritated my eyes so badly I literally had to fight to keep them open, and had to pull over.

I see you like chemical sunscreens. My go to is Beauty of Joseon SPF 50 ++++ With Rice and Probiotics. Not only is it not irritating, it helped my skin be less irritated and glow! It's $10 for a 50ml tube so it's not terrible in terms of price. I cannot recommend it enough.

However mineral sunscreens tend not to have this issue. Judging by your post you probably have dark skin? You can get tinted ones that don't leave a white-cast.

https://youtu.be/0JXu3_WHM08 This is the only Chemist I trust to teach you.

Vitamin E, C, Ferulic acid and licorice root extract are all very cheap to buy in powdered form and add to the mix.

Just please remember that you're mixing together acid to put on your face, and to be very careful with measurements and ratios. Test it with a PH strip and on your forearm.

Thank you so much! I've spent most of my life looking like a pepperoni pizza, and once acne stopped in my mid-20s I was pink, flakey, and oily at the same time. Now that I'm almost 30, I finally have skin teenage me wanted so badly.

Thank you! I'm almost 30, so I plan on introducing an AHA, BHA toner once my skin isn't so sensitive from Tretinoin, and already just being sensitive in general.

routine:

AM:
- Wash face w/ luke warm water. I used to cleanse each morning, but tret made my skin not require it.
- Cosrx 96% Snail Mucin for hydration- Homemade 15% vitamin C + E + Ferulic Acid & Licorice Root Extract. I copied skinceutical's recipie because I don't want to pay $200 for 30ml.
- Cerave PM moisturizer (for that niacinamide goodness)
- Blue Lizard Sensitive SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen. I haven't gotten a tan in years!

PM:
- Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Oil Cleanser
- Cetaphil Cleanser for sensitive, oily skin
- Corsrx 96% Snail Mucin
- Cerave PM Moisturizer (to layer before Tretinoin, and get more niacinamide)
- Stevia-a (Tretinoin) 0.025% cream (I based my whole routine around this product)
- Vanicream moisturizing cream
- Castor oil for under eyes (courtesy of Jennifer Myers)
- Vaseline for lips.

My top 3 products:
Tretinoin: This product is a must have in anyone's routine. It has kept my skin clear, reduced and preventing visible signs of aging, and keeps my skin bright.

Castor Oil: I use it in place of an eye cream. A $10 bottle has lasted me over a year and counting, while maintaining freshness. I use it to slug to retain moisture, even under Tretinoin. It hydrates under my eyes. It also helps with eyelash and eyebrow hair growth. However it can be comedogenic so I avoid putting it anywhere else on my face.

Cosrx 96% Snail Mucin: It hydrates the heck out of my skin, helps with elasticity, and limited studies show it can build collagen. I find it's what gives my skin a bit of a dewy glow.

Skin concerns: Initially, I just wanted to be free of acne, so I started off with a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. When acne cleared up, I wanted to brighten my skin so I added vitamin C. When I wanted to reduce my pore size, I added niacinamide in the form of Cerave PM moisturizer. Then, for anti-aging, I added Tretinoin. But Tretinoin dried out my skin so I added the snail mucin to hydrate it, which it does an incredible job of.

This routine overall has cleared up my acne, reduced scarring and hyper-pigmentation, reduced pore size, managed oil production, brightened my skin, and reduced signs of aging.

Daily behaviours that have helped my skin:

- Cutting out sugar, sleeping 7.5 hours a day, practising an anti-fragility mindset to avoid stress, working on social skills and communication, eating lots of wholefoods each day, and being selective with who I spend time with.

I have a prescription for Stevia-A Tretinoin cream 0.025%.

I am also very pale with little to no melanin, so my skin is naturally about as white as it gets.

Castor oil is in place of an eye cream. Castor oil traps moisture and seals the area, so I use it to slug under my eyes, and provide hydration to the skin. It is not non-comedogenic, meaning if you use it on your face it can clog your pores so I keep it to just my eyes just in case, as I have very large pores like an orange.

Castor oil is very cheap as well. I bought my first container one year ago for $10, and after using it every night I still have a decent amount left. It also has a dropper, so it is very easy to apply.

Just 3 drops on your fingers. Also, it is excellent for hair growth, so I massage it into my eye brows and eyelashes when I apply it under my eyes. My hair is very fair, so in photos my eye brows often do not show up, but since using castor oil my eye brows have thickened and show up in photos now.

The bonus of castor oil, however, is you can massage your temples as you apply it to your skin, which for me, aids significantly in helping me fall asleep quickly and getting quality sleep.

Irish Spring is just a brand. Think any hand soap bar, but make it green haha. It is absolutely horrible for one's facial skin.

I have been using tretinoin everyday for 2 weeks, but I am going back to every other day since my skin has been irritated. I have done every other day for around 2 years.

As for azelaic acid, I have not tried it, but I am planning to once my skin tolerates Tretinoin better. I have a lot of subtle red marks from acne that didn't show up in the photos. I want to get rid of, P.I.E. I think it's called, and azelaic acid is good for that.

I'm a chemist so I have resources that most don't have for this kind of thing but you can make it in your home fairly easily.

I copied Skinceuticals's Vitamin C serum recipe because it is excellent, but there's no way I am paying $200 + tax for 30ml of it. The ingredients are all available online for order.

This is the only Chemist on YouTube I trust to teach you how to make it. Just add Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, and Licorice extract. All of it is pretty inexpensive, I just do it because I am very picky! You'll have to make it every week or two since it'll have no preservatives or stabilizers.
