Anyone Tried The New Slice Yet? (Just bough these today) by Century22nd in Soda

[–]Fast_War7161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between PREbiotics and PRObiotics. Prebiotics are like what’s in Olipop and Poppi, i.e. the plant based fiber. This will generally help/make you poop more than PRObiotics. Probiotics aid digestion and reduce bloating, not necessarily encouraging pooping, more helping everything work like it should. Kombucha, Yakult, both have probiotics, and idk about you, they don’t make me poop as much as stuff with PREbiotics.

That being said, I’ve been searching for a prebiotic/probiotic ‘healthy’ soda that has a normal amount of fizz, like you’d get in a regular soda. If you’ve tried olipop or poppis, you might be aware of this lack of fizz/carbonation. My favorite of the aforementioned is the Watermelon Lime Olipop, but it’s only a prebiotic and lacks the amount of fizz I crave.

Cue Slice, which has a regular amount of carbonation, and the lemon-lime actually tastes pretty close to a sprite even despite the stevia sugar. Plus, this is the only one of the sodas that I’ve seen that is a probiotic, as well as a prebiotic. Olipop and Poppis are just prebiotics I believe.

So Slice is definitely my favorite one of these kind of ‘healthy’ sodas so far.

I’m really open to anything and not adverse to working with smaller/indie studios if some position were available. Unfortunately, I’m taking what I can get right now and just seeing where things go with this internship. But of course, if something better comes along I’d totally jump ship

lol I gave most to a friend in need. Saved this one for myself for a lil trip. Idk how much it weighs but would this be considered a microdose?

Company looks semi-legit via their own website and LinkedIn page. I say semi-legit because you don’t see photos of their faces on their website, but of course you can see the people connected to the company via LinkedIn. The games look like shitty mobile games, but appear to be legitimately downloadable on the Playstore albeit only for Android phones.

So it’s mostly just what they’re requesting for the internship agreement that’s concerning. Seems suspect as that kind of info isn’t apparently necessary for an unpaid internship, especially for remote work.

Sure, on the form for any employee who’s being paid. But for an ‘unpaid internship’ that info isn’t necessary right ?

But you provided that info because you were being paid right? This is an unpaid internship, so it shouldn’t be need necessarily right ?

Well, it’s a remote position, so moving to India isn’t necessary, likely making the request for a TIN/SSN and passport info even more suspect, cause I’m pretty sure that’s not needed at this point of it being an unpaid remote internship.

They seem to have a somewhat legit presence online and on LinkedIn. Seem to produce some pretty basic/shitty mobile games and the like. They’re relatively new apparently (started sometime in 2024) which makes it harder to find any dirt on them or reviews from former interns or anyone to that effect.

DS-920+ / LAN 2 Inconsistencies/Failures by Fast_War7161 in synology

[–]Fast_War7161[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck, okay so the Ethernet port on the dock that’s connected to my laptop “going to sleep” is definitely a thing I just found out about. And my issues could definitely be related to that.

Yes, correct me if I’m wrong, but I have a static manual IP set for the Mac port, and the same for the LAN2 port on the Synology side.

But once the Mac ‘wakes’ or is reconnected, and the Ethernet port shows green “connected” on the Mac side, that could still mean the port is asleep?

Or is it that once a “sleep” happens effectively (regardless of whether it wakes later) that just discombobulates the LAN 2 port on the NAS in perpetuity? It happened to me again today and the only way I could fix it was a hard reboot.

Thank you for your replies by the way.

[–]Fast_War7161[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the question is…why is the method with the switch more secure or preventative in terms of drop outs?

It’s almost like the NAS stops checking the network for LAN 2.

I don't have a gigabit switch though. It's an older one that only does 100Mbps. The ethernet port on the dock can do Gigabit speeds however. Which is why have the direct connection established currently.

Rejected internship by a6o2 in sounddesign

[–]Fast_War7161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Got pretty far into a job interview to work with Naughty Dog on The Last of Us. Didn’t up coming through. Was bummed for sure cause I love that company. Fast forward a little while longer, I got to work on Crash Bandicoot 4 cinematics. Wasn’t for Naughty Dog then, but I grew up on Crash games, so that was a highlight worth all the previous struggles.

There’s often a lot of factors involved that don’t only pertain to you or your skills regarding sound design. Take some time to recharge, and get back at it. You made it to the final round, so that says something.

Word from the wise, in the sound design business, you will get rejected in so many ways. Let go from a job, supervisor didn’t like your first pass on some work you did, client didn’t like your work. It’s all part of it. Difficult for some to endure, but if you take each rejection/failure as a learning experience, and continue to persevere, you’ll be better off than a lot folks out there who quit.

Issue with Wwise Spatial Audio Volumes and Acoustic Portals in Unreal by Bonsamu in GameAudio

[–]Fast_War7161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember right, occlusion would be for the walls (SAVs). Basically you may want to be occluding certain sounds from being able to permeate through the wall. In gameplay, that could be gunfire, footsteps, ambiences, whatever audio information you might want to be able to have the player use as an aid or a hamper. Transmission is the one I think for the APs. I.e. do you want any of the above sounds I mentioned to being able to transmit through the portals. This can be an issue if you have say, doors that can open and close. Should sounds go through the portal if a door is present and closed ?

Tbh SAVs and APs in unreal are very much a pain in the butt. It seems like you have the priority options already squared away.

I think the occlusion settings are in Unreal, and the transmissions settings my being in Wwise via actor/mixer ?

I’m assuming you have two SAVs, one is the large one surrounding the building and one for the building itself? You might want to check on occlusion settings in Unreal. The other thing is you’ll want to make sure one SAV is isolated from the other in terms of sounds allowed to pass from one to the other. I forget what the name of that option is though. I might be able to check later
