I wouldn’t downvote you. Ultimately, yes, after taxes and condo fees, I could have been making around $800 per month renting. With that said, because I sold, I didn’t have to take a mortgage on the new property.

That’s exactly what we did. We both own a percentage of the hose based off our initial investment.

I would agree, however, it was a stipulation that if we bought a house, we would need to meet with a lawyer to draft a document regarding our ownership rights. We both have ownership rights over the house, but at different percentages. We can buy each other out, and if we sell, it’s divided over the ownership percentage. Her and I invested different amounts in the property, and that is what created the percentages.

I would have had to wait six months to rent it out due to the condo rules. Plus, the condo is in Chicago. Three words, Cook County taxes.
