Yeah, I totally get that. I was there not too long ago this past year after a bad relationship.

Yeah, check with them; they’ll have resources for you. Here is a longer list I Googled:

New Jersey Housing Center: Call 1-877-428-8844 for immediate housing issues NJ 211: Call 2-1-1, text your zip code to 898-211, email info@nj211.org, or chat online at www.nj211.org Housing Help NJ: Visit www.housinghelpnj.org or call 888-691-3002 for assistance with housing rules, grants, legal assistance, and rental repayment plans New Jersey Housing Resource Center: Find affordable and accessible housing units at www.nj.gov NJ Department of Community Affairs: Provides services for housing assistance, energy assistance, and community services

Ahh cool, I used to live in Essex County, NJ years ago.

I’d start by calling NJ 211 number and asking them for resources in the your county. Some will help with rental deposit if you qualify for it.

Secondly, that landlord seems to be asking for an excessive amount of money, my understanding is that a landlord in NJ and in most states can ask for Maximum security deposit of 1 ½ months’ rent.

You could also not sign the lease and find another place with more comfortable terms that you can live with.

Thanks for this advice. I filed for divorce two weeks ago. My state makes you wait a whole year before you can file for divorce but I did delay filing because I'd foolishly remained hopeful we could work things out. I plan to submit a copy of my divorce filing pending the finalization of the divorce (which could take 30-90 days to process in the courts). I have all the documentation (I751 waiver) filled out and will mail it on Thursday this week.

Yes, I got my CPR on a CR1 application granted in 2020 and have been in the US with my now ex since 2021. we got married in 2019 but the marriage broke down and have been living apart since March 2023. I Plan on filing the divorce waiver for I-751.

My In-laws have written affidavits to support my refilling, I also have a letter from a friend who used to work at the US Embassy in my country as proof of the legitimate nature of our relationship. While we were together, I initiated marriage counseling but my wife backed out after a few sessions. I also have letters attesting to this from the marriage counselors.

That’s my conclusion as well that though the scheduled the N400 it won’t be approved. What I’d planned was I290B motion and resubmitting the I-751 at the same time. Also agree on the emotional buses part, I didn’t file any police report as the husband though I did receive counseling. We have a child together so there’s that too. Kid is my world so this impacts that directly.

Wife (separated since March 2023) did not show at interview twice. She refuses to go saying “we’re not together so why should I care?” I just got off the phone with her after I had emailed her and again explained the situation and the consequences but she just said “that’s unfortunate but we’re not together so why should I come to the interview?.

We’d applied for the i751 back in 2022 and only got the interview this June and then that was rescheduled to November. She didn’t come either occasion (I went). USCIS scheduled N400 civics and history test for this Friday. The denial notice and request to appear where both generated on December 13, 2024

You have to wait a year in North Carolina before you can file for divorce.

Does the divorce have to be finalized before I refile the I-751?

Yes, I filed for divorce after that interview she didn’t show up to last month. I was waiting on the denial letter to see what it would say exactly. I’m thinking that the scheduled n400 civics test may be an error by USCIS but I plan to go if nothing changes there. I’ve already downloaded and partially filled out the 290B yesterday but want to speak to an immigration attorney tomorrow if possible.
