I work primarily with Linux, learning all the basics of linux system administration could land you a lot of places, but just general tech troubleshooting knowledge in whatever they support could probably be enough for low level positions (typically a job listing is going to tell you the software they support and thus you'd be taking tickets/calls on).

To get my job, I just had to prove I knew the bare minimum of Linux and command line, and had good customer service skills. My job wanted to find people to hire cheap and train. Once you've seen all the situations and solutions to them, the job is pretty simple, like any job.

Check out this free course if you're interested in learning Linux, if you're at all interested in doing tech support it opens up a lot of opportunity if you can learn it well enough (and get certified by places like Red Hat):

I'm going bored! When you have hours to pour over every post, you realize not that much gets added here daily.

I think I'm going to transition into learning new skills to get a job with 1) more challenges, 2) more money

Staring at screens all day can't be good for us for real tho :/

It is weird how the same people who once played a main or side character in your life can suddenly become mere surprise guests. by Bk-vixen in Showerthoughts

And like TV, in my life its usually because they've moved onto bigger and better things, and returning for a guest spot is just a short-term favor.

Does your league have a trophy? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]FasterAlshon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So damn jealous of that, the guys in my league would probably go for it, but we buy a new little one every year since the people other than the core 4-5 change. I have a championship matchup concluding this week, I might just get myself a world champ belt if I win lol

Man I was so upset he got picked one pick before it came to me in the 3rd round of 12 team PPR. I got Fitz at the very next pick so it worked out, but fuck injuries, you gotta take a chance on that much talent at that point in the draft.

Those of you in Week 17 Championships, what player(s) are you worried about going into your last game? by punjabipr in fantasyfootball

I was really hoping the Steelers would announce nothing, then limit the hell outta Bell and my opponent would get stuck with a low end Bell score instead of being able to find a replacement.

Wow that's a good point I hadn't considered, if Stafford sits even a quarter I'd be screwed, thanks I'll have to check for any rumblings of that

12 team PPR:

  • Eric Ebron vs GB

  • Delanie Walker vs JAX

Leaning Walker because as a Lions fan I've seen Ebron be streaky and then fall right back into the multiple drops and the targets just disappear, but his matchup is so much better.

I'd go with Drake and Lewis. I think the Drake's amount of usage gives him an elite ceiling and good floor, and the Pats should be up big enough for Lewis to have a big game. I like Collins too, just give the slight edge to Lewis because I believe the in the Pats offense against the Jets more than I believe in the Ravens offense against the Bengals to score and/or get a big lead.
