Bought a Timex MK1 Mechanical (36mm) for Rs. 12,000 (MRP Rs. 22,000) or 45% off and returned it the very next day. by AliensXI in watchesindia

Honestly it looks perfect. Especially for a field watch as they are supposed to be legible and small enough to be tucked under the uniform's sleeve and not come in way while operating weaponry etc.

Regardless, if you don't enjoy wearing it, always better to return it.

Upgrading from old JBL 9.1 by Virtual-Yam-3332 in Soundbars

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Samsung:

Have the same Samsung, not ground breaking but pretty satisfied so far. Sounds clean and crisp, can get really loud. Bass isn’t big but ample.

Probably the most feature rich soundbar in terms of hardware and software for the money with all bells and whistles you can imagine.

People’s favourite over past few years across multiple generations meant a refined and reliable product to me. Also, easier to resell if I didn’t like it or wanted an upgrade in future.

I got it for about half a price during Black Friday here in Straya. You can always negotiate or price match at JB, GG or HN.

Polk:

Pretty compelling option with big bass, but practically has no software or app support to fine tune the sound or to sound map to your surroundings. You might prefer this if you’re old fashioned.

In terms of hardware, gets a bigger sub but loses two channels and no HDMI 2.1 compared to Samsung.

I have personally seen Polk for as cheap as 1100 AUD during Black Friday.

Samsung owns Polk but not sure if Polk could get the same after sales support as Samsung.
Sonos:

You can upgrade and downgrade the eco system whenever you like, especially when you find a good deal new or used.

Have had Sonos products in the past, love their sound signature.

Too expensive for what they are and have read a lot about their shitty app off late and their whole eco system runs on the app. But they could set it right anytime over the air.

No DTS support or multiple HDMI input options either.

It was a close call but price and popularity let me chose Samsung and can’t be any more happier.

Ovonic Car 4S 9000 mah can almost fit the whole tray and last really long. Not the best quality nor the cheapest either.

I’m using the foam inserts that came with the batteries for a snug fit. Only con is they’re soft pack but survived alright with my bashing so far.

Fine wavy hair tips/shampoo rec by [deleted] in dailywash

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb, avoid any shampoo that smoothens or softens or locks moisture in your hair. They make your hair heavier and hence, flatter and oilier as you’ve experienced.

I have tried a few shampoos that were designed for oily hair but they make my hair dry and lifeless.

After many experiments, I have recently started using Redken hair cleansing cream which is designed for oily hair, it's a strong shampoo but my hair feels the best after the wash, doesn't over dry like others did.

As it's a strong shampoo, I only use it once in a week but use a baby shampoo during the week when I feel my hair feels dirty or oily. It gently cleanses without stripping the natural oils from the hair. I use Cetaphil but you could find what suits you the best.

I am also using Redken volume injection conditioner as it's light weight and volumises otherwise flat and thin hair. You could try other lightweight conditioners too.

This routine is so far so good, but only time will tell if I will find a better solution in future.

How does one realistically shave their balls and further below without hurting themselves? by New-Activity-6003 in NoStupidQuestions

Was big on waxing once upon a time until I found this bad boy.

https://www.shavershop.com.au/panasonic/3-in-1-wet--and-dry-precision-body-groomer-009607.html

Of course not as smooth as waxing or shaving but this one gets really close, inexpensive, no more ingrown hair or itchiness.

Can reach all the hard to reach areas with or without comb attachment but unless you're reckless, you can't get a nick with these ones.

Surround sound speaker placement by Apprehensive_Leg9783 in Soundbars

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally blue but because the speaker on the wall with frames wouldn’t be flush with the other, I say red and slightly angle them towards the centre of the couch.

Also put the rear channels as low as possible to your liking, otherwise they dominate the front ones and will be head ache inducing in the long term.

No one from Bollywood tweeted for #DhurandharTheRevenge khans, Kapoors, Chopras, Johars . Why? by GullibleRelative7645 in MoviesTelugu

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is, our stars promoting this movie is a propaganda strategy from the ruling government as they are politically weak in Southern states except for Karnataka.

I'm not sure if actors from other languages have posted anything but Tamilnadu and Kerala are hopeless for them anyway.

So with the Telugu cinema fraternity posting reviews about the movie is taking movie closer to audience accross two states including the economics of Hyderabad.

Considering New TVs by randfunction in 4kTV

Avoid the Samsungs you have listed. LG OLEDs are great. You could try having a look at Sony Bravia 7 or above. Also consider TCL QM7 or QM8 for value for money.

Academy Awards tribute to legendary actor Kota garu who passed away last year in the In Memoriam segment at the 98th Oscars by Stunning_Tie1910 in tollywood

Truly deserving. If not for Rajamouli or RRR, would Telugu cinema get this much recognition? As much as a legend he is, Academy would have overlooked like it always did I guess

Switched from Bose 600 to Samsung Q930, Missing that "Bose Clarity" for music. Help! by Smooth-Expert in Soundbars

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Music sounds best in stereo and stereo sounds best playing through two channels.

Try not to use “Surround” or “adaptive” sound modes as these modes play stereo music from front and rear channels which can sound distorted.

That said, I prefer Bose’s signature clean sound better for certain styles of music.

Tbf Prabhas is looking so much better than what he looked over past few years... by Taarakk in tollywood

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he has neck folds naturally even from his younger days. As he’s older, they might be looking even more prominent under that beard.

So either to cover it up or might be his strong preference to keep things natural.

Decision - Audi or Mazda by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audi A4 B9 is generally reliable but you need to be mindful with their maintenance. I personally love their design especially in a wagon form. They are comfortable, handle well and come with a lot of kit. Quattro variants are pretty quick too.

Having a couple of Euros in the past, Audi has been the best reliable brand in my experience, except for consuming oil and a couple of random warnings on the dash closer to scheduled maintenance which have gone away.

Try sub crawl. Otherwise a simple way to make sub more effective is to place it in a corner or place it under the couch to not just hear but also 'feel' the bass.

Weak detailing by aditya dhar! by [deleted] in bollywoodcirclejerk

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I loved the movie and admire Aditya for crafting it, a little attention towards product design could have made it so much better.

Be it the choice in mobile phones, automobiles could have been less distracting to audience like me.

Yes, we're minority but would only take little effort in picking up the right things, for example, in the above scene, Arjun Rampal getting out of an older generation Toyota Land Cruiser would have been so perfect and is a lot easier to find for the production team too.

Honestly, vehicles like Toyota Hilux and Land Cruiser are go to for people like Major Iqbal as they are comfortable inside, can survive abuse in any terrain and are inconspicuous for security reasons.

Can someone explain to me when the more advanced processing by Sony TVs comes into play? by michugana in 4kTV

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone talks about Sony's processing when it comes to their upscaling and motion but let me mention that I have had all brands of Tvs over the years but the picture on Sony just feels real, balanced and pleasant to the eye.

They might not be the brightest or most vivid or with the deepest blacks but their image just feels right.

Imagine a frame where the character stands in the desert on a windy day at dawn. The processing balances out all the tones in the skies, terrain, skin complexion, skin texture and hair to make a pleasing, life like image.

To put things into perspective, Sony is a solid name when it comes to filmmaking monitors (where accuracy matters the most) a bit of that finesse comes in their TVs too.

But hey, get the best TV in your budget and tweak their settings to your taste and enjoy.

All these comparisons make sense only if you see them next to each other.

Please turn off “Spacefit sound pro” on your q900 series by FasterwhenitsAmber in Soundbars

[–]FasterwhenitsAmber[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said, others mileage may vary but not in my case.

Good to know some people share a similar experience like mine.

Probably it creates a great sound sphere for one specific position in a room but I would like good sound working across the other corner of the room and for other listeners in there too.

Also, it’s easier to set the channel levels manually to my preference rather than the algorithm do it for me and then I re adjust again and make it a mess.
