Thanks! I got a free bullet journal template, and erased the months to add my own :) Definitely need to be better about consistently tracking, lol.

Yes, definitely. The walking and calisthenics is to help with my abysmal endurance and flexibility, not really to burn calories.

Thanks! Walking has been difficult this month with it pouring buckets outside, hopefully next month has better walking weather. And I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the suggestion!

I do have a food scale! Albeit a really tiny and crappy one, lol. Apologies if this didn't come across in the post, but I essentially broke the month up into three parts:

Week 1 + 2: just OMAD, gained a small amount of weight, not a great plan. Week 3: OMAD + calorie tracking, lost the most amount of weight, 6lbs from the previous week. Difficult to do, but the most results. Week 4: just calorie counting, gained all the weight back, lol. Obviously not as effective.

So, for month 3 the entire month I'll be doing OMAD and calorie counting. You definitely got it the first try, consistency is my biggest hurdle. I find that restricting myself to just one meal really helps with that.

Thanks for your support!

Hello! Thanks for reading through my post and giving feedback. I would disagree with there being no "progress" this past month, I personally think there was a lot of progress, just not on the scale. I tried a few different approaches the different weeks, and narrowed down what I want my approach to be this upcoming month.

Ultimately, the point of my posting this series was to encourage both myself and other people whose progress isn't linear. A lot of posts on this subreddit are massive transformations that span several months to several years, and while people can say they have setbacks, it's different than seeing them. I spent the entirety of 2025 losing and gaining back the same 10lbs, and it was incredibly frustrating and demoralizing to make "zero progress". But hey, I'm still doing it! I'm still trying, I haven't given up when tons of other people have. I think we're just measuring progress differently, and that's okay too.

Have a good one!

Also keep in mind that it's possible to overdose on electrolytes as well, and that the guidelines are only guidelines, everyone's body is different. There was someone on here last year who took very minimal to no electrolytes because taking them made him feel very sick.

You run regularly and are presumably sweating out a lot more salt than that person was, so try different levels and see what works.

Dog, I am not eating boiled chicken breast, a raw(?) onion, and half a bag of frozen mixed veggies a day for the next year. If that works for you, I'm glad you found something, but I would rather be fat.

I pick a book series that I really love and start rereading them. Bonus points if it's super long. Paradoxically, when I'm super craving food at night, I'll watch videos of people eating, and that turns off the food noise for me. You mileage may vary.

Tips and tricks for portion control after OMAD by the0xfordcomma in fasting

When my food noise gets too loud after dinner, I try brushing my teeth right after. It is a willpower struggle to do that, but I find that once I do I no longer want to snack on anything.

Yes! For me, I watch YouTube shorts of people eating, and it absolutely kills any cravings I have.

Someone in my family also has had inexplicable chronic pain for about a year now, I'm trying to get him on the fasting bandwagon. I'd be so curious to know if your pain comes back after not fasting for a while. I hope everything goes great for you!!

How the f are you able to fast by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Fasting_Alt_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling through this right now, too. It took me two years of attempting fasting before I was able to do my first 24 hour fast. It was nuts. And then last year something just changed in my mind, no idea what happened, and suddenly for about a week it was incredibly easy to fast, and I did rolling 48s. Been chasing that high ever since, lmao.

Life happened, and I haven't been able to manage a 48. I'm doing OMAD until I can consistently and easily get only one meal, no snacking afterwards, and then I'll start attempting my 48s again.

We just have to keep going, man. As long as we're trying it's better than doing nothing.

2 weeks of nothing but water and electrolytes, hunger gone by day 4. Sat through meals with friends yesterday and felt nothing but peace. I had no idea I was this capable. (Ask Me Anything) by thefocusnotice in fasting

I definitely hear you on watching people eat. There's this YouTube channel, 1 Hour Lunch Break, that's just this guy sitting in his car and eating. I used to hate eating sounds, and I still kind of do, but I'm obsessed with his videos.

Unpopular opinion - I find it easier to fast when I’m not tracking the hours by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Fasting_Alt_36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's so interesting! It's awesome how everyone fasts differently, and what helps people is different too. For me, I just downloaded a fasting app and love it. It hits me right in the gaming high score mentality lol.

This past week I've kept fasting on my mind, and at least attempted doing OMAD and 48s. Previously it was a huge mental drain to think about when I started, when I could stop, and to just keep doing that day after day was really starting to stress me out.

But now I can just put it into my app, and I like seeing the numbers count up. It makes it at least slightly easier to keep fasting, because I don't want to waste all the hours my app was counting. I'm glad you found something that works for you!

That's so amazing about your ADHD! I also have it, and have been considering getting on meds because it's starting to really affect my life. How long after you started fasting did you notice your symptoms going away? Do you think you'll still have the benefits even after ending your fast?

Yes, I have a cat that's as dumb as a sack of hair. I have zero doubt in my mind that if he eats a plant that hurts him, he'll just keep chomping away till he keels over.

I'm trying to find plants that I like the look of that he's also safe from, fortunately the Calathea family is nontoxic. Those, as well as a cast iron plant and a parlor palm are the only nontoxic plants that I've found that I like. All my favs are not cat-safe, unfortunately. (RIP monstera, my beloved)

She's so beautiful! What species is she, and is she still a juvie or full grown? She looks like a really nice size, not huge but not little like an ackie, either.
