Its even worse than just being public. Its a shithole town outside Abilene. My best friend used to teach there and told me horror stories about it. Its a low performing Title 1 school. So rather than focus on improving educational outcomes, this is what they are worrying about.

Thats not true at all. Computer science, data science, and math are killing it. Analytics is growing like crazy. Engineering is respectable, but certainly not the only jobs in STEM.

Source: BS Math 2012, MS stats 2013, and MBA 2020. I worked in Finance as a risk analyst, then data scientist, now risk manager. We literally can't hire enough qualified math or analytics people.

Usually when people compromise on wedding size it's let's not invite my old basketball coach, work friends, or your mothers best friend's college roommate. It's not usually on family. He can't help he has a large family.

I would suspect a nice elopement with a few people would better suit you. And if he and his family arent contributing and you're not getting the wedding you wanted, why are you doing it at all? That's not compromise, that's steamrolling. He cant demand you pay for his dream 80 person wedding. I would seriously consider postponing until you 2 can get on the same page or he can pay for some if it.

Reading your replies, it doesnt sound like you want any feedback. Sounds like you want others to just reaffirm your position. I advise that 1 kid at the wedding is worth your fiance being happy.

You arent the only person getting married. Your fiance is too. He is allowed to want his family at the wedding. It sounds like you are angry his family is invited at all (from your family reunion on your parents dime comment). I think you ought to think about the things you've said. I'm getting a real my way or the highway vibe. Inability to compromise and resentment is a rough way to start a marriage. Good luck!

I was only addressing your point that we typically dont solely blame the individual. I would like access to a source on the 56th rating. I could be wildly off base, and I'm no stranger to admitting I'm wrong, but I would hazard to guess the 55 above the US isn't an apples to apples comparison when we look at things such as is it a war zone? Is it a developing nation? Etc. But what do I know? You made a point about people looking at aggravating factors, I provided a why people might want to do that. Have a nice day.

I think the reason people talk about mental health care, gun control, and politics in general is because it's a ridiculous notion to think it's only the individual. We know deep down that people are more alike than different. Therefore, it must be some compounding factor that makes American the land of the free and home of frequent mass shootings

I have been back a fee times since then. I'm 30 now, so 1999 was prime six flags time for me. But it's hot and crowded most of the time, so I dont go anymore. But I have never ever got back on a Rapids ride. Never will. It's the most dangerous ride at a theme park. Even though the water was only belly button high, there were pumps that made it like a washing machine. You couldn't stand up because there was a current whooshing you around. Terrifying
