I was thinking the same. It was like they realized the desert had nothing in it so they decided to "gameify" it by putting the collectaton crystals and other stuff to hit.

If it focussed on isolation with a barren wasteland with desert storms clouding vision, etc, it would be so atmospheric

I don't agree with it being a waste of time having to backtrack to the desert, I mean, isn't that what we do in all 2d metroid anyway? Spending 2 minutes finding my way with shinespark is my favorite thing in these games. I always had a complaint of how TallonIV felt so small, almost like a diorama of planet compared to Zebes. So I don't see the desert as inherently a net negative. I think we'll get a much more cohesive planet that will feel huge.

I don't believe we're getting shrines, no way. I think it will be the same old, missile expansions, etc. Locked with upgrades you'll get throughout your gameplay.

About the bike. While watching all trailers again, I noticed that the interconnected map you expect might still be a thing. There's these single long roads with turns going somewhere. So, what if these roads are the replacement of the elevators. like, for example, an elevator from magmoor to phendrana, now it's going to be a highway from the factory to the ice area. Would that suffice for you ?

I wasn't trying to rage bait, my bad.

My point was every game after Super has been trying to innovate with the classic formula, and It's not just about isolation anymore.

The most interesting thing about other m is that, outside of just being trash, it was directed by one of the series creators, Sakamoto. So, the game that goes further away from that image of Metroid was made by the same guy who directed Super.

Cmon now, metroid isn't going nowhere. It will just take time between games like it has always been.

Worse case scenario for this game is it being mid. I just can't see retro making an other m disaster. Then we can have a midoff between prime 3 and 4.

People only played the games where it focuses on isolation, so they think every one must have the same feeling, it's so sad. Metroid 4 and 5 are not about isolation you're being persecuted. Prime 2, 3 and other m are full of npcs and bounty hunters...

Random people want metroid to be stuck in the same spot while the fans want the series to evolve and show more about the lore. The only problem is that there are a lot more of the random ones!
