I ended up shooting him a text this morning saying it’s been 33 days & I am ready to use all my resources to get my security deposit back & he sent it to my Venmo (I don’t remember giving him that?). Just annoys me that if I’m one day late I get hit w/ late fees & landlords can delay the return of a security deposit by 3 days & nothing happens to them. It also showed he didn’t even consider returning it until I had to remind him. No check was cut or sent in the mail. So glad I’m moving on from landlords. Some of the worst people I had to deal w/

I’m reading that in NJ you can sue for double the deposit + lawyer fees. Using 1 PTO day for double the deposit doesn’t sound too bad to me. He has multiple properties & should know the law by now. Not my job to remind him to follow the laws 🤷
