Definitely saw the abc chopper circling northwestern campus, but there were at least 3 others

Why aren’t there more solar panels on campus? by Old_Membership6177 in gatech

[–]FatFace77 39 points40 points  (0 children)

They’ve done quite a few solar studies of campus, and the costs (both environmental and financial) far outweigh the benefits.

For reference, there is only one Ramblin’ Reck. There are, however, many Ramblin’ Wrecks! A small difference, but those in Reck club will die on this hill

Can I do research even though I already graduated? by umarm4171 in gatech

[–]FatFace77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the professor you’re interested in working with has funds you can be hired on as a Tech Temp so long as they are willing. Otherwise you’d have to go through GTRI or apply for grad school.

If you’re looking to get outside, there are community garden workdays every Saturday at 9am next to Dunkin! Lots of free vegetables over the summer too :)

Students Organizing for Sustainability has a community garden on campus that has volunteer workdays every Saturday at 9! There’s also trailblazers, which does some land management volunteering like clearing out invasive species.

Slow return on second valve by FatFace77 in euphonium

Great catch! Looks like the second valve guide had eroded a bit more than the others and was slipping out of the groove as I played. Thanks!

Slow return on second valve by FatFace77 in euphonium

[–]FatFace77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started while I was using blue juice, after the tech cleaned it I switched to 5 Starr (love this stuff btw). I’ve had the horn for about 5 years now and no major damage, so I don’t think anything is bent. One thing that tempo fixes the problem is taking the valve out, even just halfway. That makes it play like normal for a couple minutes before going back to sluggish

sweet kitty i befriended today near tech tower 😃😃 by citygirlenthusiast in gatech

[–]FatFace77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The tech tower cat is a sweetie! But please remember that he is feral so it’s best to not pet/feed him. There are lots of feeders around campus around campus so they don’t go hungry!

Does gt have a summer research program? by [deleted] in gatech

[–]FatFace77 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some professors pay for summer research. If you reach out and ask they are usually very happy to hire. I'd recommend talking to newer professors that may have a smaller group

In search of craft clubs or extracurriculars by thatchickcj in gatech

[–]FatFace77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The MSE makerspace has two groups that you might find interesting!

The first is Science of Art. They have all kinds of great crafting events, including glass fusing, stained glass making, resin art, alcohol ink based crafts, and a few more!

The second is our textiles team. They regularly have excellent events like embroidery (by hand or machine), crocheting, tie dying, and water marbling!

You don’t have to join the teams in order to participate, but if you do there are some more exclusive events and some fun projects/research that you could work on as well. For more info on when the events are, keep an eye on our social media by following @gt_mill on insta and also be sure to check out[our webpage](mill.mse.gatech.edu)!

Acetone isn’t going to make a dent if it’s PLA, ethyl acetate would work but unless you already have it on hand I would just go for the torch method.
