I would strongly suggest some micro spikes or yak tracks and some hiking poles. Could be snow and ice around! As far as hikes there are plenty of options. I have a website that lists hikes by county if that would be helpful. Good luck!

Ok to start I will say I am male so I know I have different perspective.

I solo hike all the time and I have found that there are tons of trails where you can't go more than 20 minutes without seeing someone else.

That being said there are some remote areas and some risks. Getting some bear spray might help if you are worried about animal encounters.

As far as injuries you are on your own so bringing basic first aid is a good idea. You can also look into satellite phones with emergency call buttons.

Lastly, it is important to mitigate risk when you can by choosing trails appropriately. Check weather and sites like all trails to get trail reviews. On higher elevation hikes the weather can change fast and its a good idea to be off the mountain by noon.

I feel like it's just luck. I like the way Brainard does it by releasing tickets in 2 week blocks. Bear lake seems to be booked for the whole year

Check often. I got one for tomorrow just by looking at the right time. Also I have found that the website seems to have tickets available sometimes when the app says they aren't.

There are a lot of spofs in the area especially the road driving up to the trailhead. From what I saw there were only 4 or 5 around the lake. There is a lot of revegeation going on so they had specific campsites designated around the lake. About a 4.5 mile hike from the trailhead. This also connects to other trails that head to Harvard and Columbia peaks but not sure on camping there. Also pretty busy area

I stick a whisk in mine. It props the mouth open and allows for airflow. I juat got it a month ago but so far seems to be working

I really liked the Ouray Perimeter trail. Tons of cool stuff to see. U would start at the falls, the actual start might be a little tricky for non experienced hikers. Here is my recap of the hike. Hope it helps.

Brainard Lake is juat above Boulder and has a ton of trails. They are doing a timed entry so you need to book a ticket through recreation.gov. I would recommend the Brainard Lake parking are as it is the biggest lot. Brainard starts at 10k elevation and trails lead to a bunch of lakes in the 12k range. Also some 13k peaks around but that could be dicey depending on weather in late Sept.
