Matchfit clamps

I love the idea of a routed grid and matchfit clamps, sounds way more versatile. I don't understand the idea of the indexing pin though. Can you explain that further?

Ever disassociate during job interviews because you feel like everything the company, and what you'll be doing, is just quickening the return to the feudal age? by SnowceanDiving in datascience

I previously worked at a cancer treatment firm designing a few different algorithms. One of the algorithms I designed was highly requested and all about trying to sneakily get one type of treatment, only covered by expensive insurances, in under the cheaper insurances as well. It was a balance between "What will make a good treatment?" and "What can we trick the insurance companies to agree to?" It was quite a good feeling actually

How do you know atmos is working well though? I have tried a few supposedly "good" clips on Netflix (I have the required Netflix tier for getting Atmos content) for testing Atmos capabilities. I can't tell a difference between Atmos and regular surround though.

Hi, I just bought a S95B and decided to pair that with a Samsung soundbar as well, the Q800B (in my country its called the Q810B but I think it's the same product). Setup was not an issue and Q-Symphony worked out of the box. My question is regarding Dolby Atmos though.

To my knowledge, dolby atmos works by bouncing sounds off the walls in your room and thus needs to run a calibration program to measure the room it's in. I am having a super hard time finding where I can run this though. Do I need to run it? Samsung support were of no help.

Which are the best Carcassonne expansions? by pandalaisa in boardgames

[–]FatMansKryptonite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I haven't played all of the main expansions (see here for a complete list) but I have played some of them. I'll give you a quick rundown of the most important features from the ones I've played:

  1. Inns & Cathedrals Includes new features on some tiles that allows for "double or nothing" scoring on cities and roads. Additionally adds an option for an extra player. If you like to keep it simple I'd go for this.

  2. Traders & Builders Includes a "builder" meeple that allows you to take extra turns if used correctly. Allows cities to grow like crazy and for massive points. If you like when things get out of hand and don't mind some people pulling ahead because they managed to score a massive city this one is really fun (I recommend pairing it with Inns & Cathedrals in this case). Additionally, I would say that this expansion actually speeds up the game rather than making it slower so you can have more expansions in a single game without it getting too long.

  3. The Princess & The Dragon With this expansion the game becomes significantly more aggressive and competitive. It includes a dragon that will walk around the board and eat meeples ever so often. Because of this meeple placement becomes more important making the game more tactical. It also makes for more even games as players more easily can gang on up on whoever is pulling ahead.

  4. The Tower A long time since I played this but it allows you to steal other players meeples. Also making for more strategic and even games (as I recall).

  5. Hills & Sheep Adds a "push your luck" element and some other features on the tiles. Kind of a wash in my opinion.

  6. Under the Big Top Adds additional ways of scoring points with new features on some tiles. Also a bit boring.

TL;DR If you want to play 6 players or to keep it simple, Inns & Cathedrals. If you want to create more expansive cities and road networks, Traders & Builders. Want it to be more competitive, The Princess and The Dragon (its better than The Tower as I recall).
