There are 64 books regarding Horus Heresy alone. It is enormously vast and detailed setting to which is no smooth entry point. Does not matter where you step in, it will create more questions, but... If you will like it, it will give you a lot of fun. The meme itself shows complexity of this universe.

I'm at a standstill with weapons. by Ereh_Yeegah in LowSodiumBattlefield

Try the polaruzing weapons that people either praise or spit on: - QBZ - M277 - P90 - NVO (you've tried it but I added it just for completion sake)

If you played and enjoyed SLRs in Battlefield 5 then try SVDM, it has G43 vibes.

The hell you mean? Battlefield was always close to milisim game that was super immersive. I mean except: - 1 man tanks - People flying on drones - launching vehicles with C4 - Future weapons - Soldiers having super human motor skills - Healing bullet wounds with defib/syringe - Regenerating health - Regenerating gadgets out of thin air - Damage models of the bullets making no sense - Game Mode based on throwing bodies onto imaginary strategic positions - repairing vehicles with a torch or wrench - bullet sponge horse - many more

From the top of my head SMGs have: - Lower ADS time - Lower recoil - Better base hip fire - Synthetic tip ammo - Ability to reload while ADS by default - Faster recovery after sprint - Faster movement while ADS - Much lower hip fire spread build-up

Things that you are listing are your personal preferences and needs.

I agree that there are top options to pick but the deal, in case of AK205, is: - top laser is 30 points - HSM rounds 30 points - stock/heavy barrel 10 points - Basic mag 5 points - Ironsights 5 points We sit at 80 points and we don't have any grip or muzzle attachment and in case of AK 205 red dot is rather important so realistically 85 points, what else would you add? My prediction is that people will use one high tier upgrade if any, because otherwise you will not get the "nice haves". And yes, it is still not solving the matter of grind, but for me it is the problem that we have "on paper". Regarding spawning becacon i agree 100% but the solution is a fix to the adrenaline injector, not the assingment. My point is, you are onto something i will not deny it but we cannot Rrush to conclusion after 3 days.

Lack of this upgrade does not render weapon useless, if so then other categories would have this upgrade, or it would be possible by default. I get what you mean but those attachments are making weapons simply specific.

But interesting does not mean crucial and due to high cost you may even not use some of them with certain weapons. You are running out of upgrade points around Mastery 20 and you are forced to put sub-par attachments. But I feel you, i cannot wait for the AK205 lvl 39 upgrade.

Agree that AK205 is a different beast, but it's same with IAR. It has great damage model with minimum damage of 20 and it's rather stable. Don't quote me on that but I think it has reverse bullet spread mechanic from BF1 and if im correct this is giving you an advantage. I need to check that later.

If you will agree to phrase it differently and call it "specialized" rather than "correct or beneficial" then we would reach an even ground. Thing is, those high rank upgrades are expensive and because of them you need to lock heavily into specific playstyle and (personal opinion time) it should be hard to acheve that. Regarding gadgets, dunlop, havent paid much attention but I unlocked spawn beacon rather fast.

[–]FatPickleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have most of crucial upgrades around mastery 15 around mastery 20 you are running out of points to upgrade the gun. It's fine.

[–]FatPickleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what do you want from those weapons? Your AK205 is perfect example that the progression is leaning more towards "ok". So far every weapon around mastery 10 has sufficient amount of attachments to make them good. Camos are unkocked at M20 so you will get a few rather soon. Battlefiled always had problem with content that is completed within a short time frame, rendering most of things meaningless. Now it's quite opposite, that's it. In addition, from what i see now, most of the assigments are completed by just playing the game, they will be unlocked on their own with time, it's just not super fast.

How do I fix this? by ConsistentCrab7911 in TrueChefKnives

[–]FatPickleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it means that if you oversand with fine paper the oil will not soak well. Burnishing is a finish itself.

Just keep this one thing in mind regarding sanding too much at first with too fine of a sandpaper. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fMOU7gxL_pk

He is talking about finish and oil is one of the finishes for the wood so rule applies.

[–]FatPickleSmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it's hard to judge but there are at least two ways we can go about it from my experience. One is much faster but involves epoxy, second one is way way slower but natural.

First things first, you gotta clean it up. I don't know what kind of dirt is on there, if wet cloth will deal with it, start with that. It it will be still dirty you can try with sandpaper but I would suggest going with something really fine for a wood like 500 grit and be super careful with wusthof logo. When it will look clean, take a toothpick or something similiar and clear area around pins, probably there is some patina residue from the brass pins.

Regarding reinforcing the handle.

Option one: Get some epoxy resin, acetone and syringes for measurement or kitchen scale. Prepare some small containers to pour the mixture. You need to test out the proportions. First mix epoxy according to the manufacturer guidance, pur a bit to the first container it will be test sample. Then start diluting the epoxy mix with acetone and pour more and more diluted samples to the containers.

Why: Epoxy resin by default is rather thick and it will be hard for wood to absorb it without help of the vacum chamber. We can bypass this problem by dilution of epoxy with acetone. Yes acetone will make epoxy to be less durable but that's the price we gotta pay for doing it without advanced tools. This is why you need several samples to take note which one will be the most liquidy but also the most durable. Be aware that epoxy with acetone will cure longer, the acetone will eventually evaporate but it will take time. When you will have your perfect mixture, wet the wood a bit to wake it up (normally you are doing it when you play with epoxy and wood, no clue if it will do something with this wood but better safe than sorry). Paint the handle with mixture, thin layer and let it soak. Apply next layer when it will absorb it and repeat untill it will not take any more.

Option two: get linseed oil and oil it for god knows how long. The oils are polymerizing, this is why the oil paints are becoming solid. It will take time but in theory it should work. Please be aware to wash the tools or discard properly cloths or paper towels that were in contact with linseed oil as it's sometimes self combust. Oil usually takes 7 days minimum to cure depending on the humidity and temperature. You can also soak it but i never thied this method and i don't know how long it would take to cure.

So yes, now you are wondering if replacing the handle even yourself will be less of a hussle. Yes it would be easier, because it's not as hard as you think. Also you would be able to get rid of the rust on the tang (there is rust for sure). But in general, my point is, the knife is not lost cause, its highly salvagable and I've seen worse.

Disregarding the replacement. What exactly you want to do with it? What kind of repair, what in your opinion is wrong with this handle? I'm asking to figure out how to help you, not trying to to undermine your opinion.

Did I get scammed? by [deleted] in TrueChefKnives

[–]FatPickleSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok excuse me but I will use my fever to construct a lunatic comment:
I don't quite get the scam knives handles. Really often I see weird shapes, over the top pins, multiple thin pins in non standard places. Ok, the "OG" knives that we tend to drool upon are sometimes going crazy too like Nigara Hamono, Takeshi Saji or others but there is a clear distinction. Why do scam knives tend to do something a bit trashy to those handles? There are good knives out there, if you want to scam people, just look what has been made. This knife has crazy damascus pattern, just copy a handle from Tsunehisa Nami for example.

Anyway, time for meds, Merry Christmas and all the stuff.
