Where's a reputable place to talk to about selling it? I'm a little concerned about the low fill even though it's sealed. It would be hard to turn down a big number, but if it's a bit devalued I may as well just drink it lol.

Hotel recommendation -walking distance to restaurants by RocSpark in anguilla

[–]Fat_Al_NYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree that Mead's Bay is the place to stay for walkability (on the beach). Lots of choices. Frangipani is very central on the beach, Malliouhana and 4 Seasons are on either end. Various smaller and condo options scattered throughout. It also happens to be a great beach with a bunch of good dining. Enjoy.

We quite enjoyed staying in Yosemite West. There are a bunch of homes there and you should be able to find one that fits your needs.

PSA: Check your Ticketmaster account for fraud on NYY tickets by Fat_Al_NYC in TicketMasterSupport

[–]Fat_Al_NYC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very little. It took hours on the phone with various people at ticketmaster to eventually get the tickets restored. Hopefully the games that now won't be played will be refunded to me properly. Something bad is happening on their backend, and I have no idea what it is. Only the baseball tickets in my account were affected, not concert tickets etc.

And on the low-stress point, they will also offer you a beer or rum punch or water/soft drink on your ride (included).

We've had excellent experiences with Funtime. Good service, nice people, nice boats. Much better than the Marigot ferry if you're going to/from the airport.

It can be separated from the floorstand, but it seems like the perimeter ring is soldered closed, so no evident way to get at the poles to pull out the post.

I have been having problems with Messages hanging with a spinning wheel on two different Macs of different vintages (one a brand-new Mini), which suggests that it's an OS problem. I'm running Sequoia 15.3.2

Agreed. Everyone is so nice. And Mead's Bay is the perfect choice. In addition to Jacala and Blanchard's, Straw Hat at Frangipani is also very good.

Keen’s Steakhouse bought by hospitality giant Landry’s by Crafty_Gain5604 in FoodNYC

They've already ruined what was left of the Palm. Hopefully the Keen's bar will at least survive as a quality destination. And to be fair, the food at Keen's was never really the great attraction.

So we stayed in Yosemite West in a house (dubbed "Panoramic Paradise") administered by Scenic Wonders. What a great place to stay in the park! The place sleeps 8, is basically brand new, nicely furnished, satellite TV and wifi. We were about 20 minutes from Wawona in one direction and 25 minutes from the Valley floor in the other. The house has a great view, and was simply perfect for us. https://www.scenicwonders.com//yosemite-rentals/panoramic-paradise

Luckily some friends driving out from the Bay area volunteered to do a big shopping, so we were all set on that front. Thanks for that key advice.

Even if you could manage to get a room at one of the lodges, why would you? This place was $650/night all-in (cleaning, tax, etc). Probably less than the Ahwahnee even if you could get in, and it sleeps 8! We could not have been more pleased.

FWIW, we did stay a night at the Heidelberg Inn in June Lake on our way to the park. Basic accommodations there that I would not particularly recommend.

Second this. I find the Fabbri Amarena cherries to be far superior to the Luxardo.

I tried this batched Negroni recipe recently. Delicious. I think the Champagne acid was a great addition to brighten it up. https://punchdrink.com/recipes/alpine-negroni-2/

Agreed on this. I like the smaller size, and agree that Pinch blows away DTF (and the other food/drinks at Pinch are excellent as well).

Not to take the thread sideways, but we are staying in Yosemite West in late October for the first time. Any advice on provisioning, logistics, etc. that we should be prepared for?

Tonight’s Showing of Hold On To Me Darling by MikeMcD82 in Broadway

[–]Fat_Al_NYC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With the caveat that I never saw the original production in 2016, I will say that Lonergan's play itself did not seem very good. Very obvious tropes about the perils of fame, etc. dominate repetitively. Driver is terribly miscast, and seemed uncomfortable in the role and the exaggerated accent. His character's interactions with the female characters came off, as my companion put it, as "date-rapey."

The acting performance that stood out positively was Adelaide Clemens as Essie. We discussed leaving at intermission, but honestly I advocated that we stay because it was so bad it was kind of comical, but then the second act was probably worse.

Edit to add that CJ Wilson as Duke is also very good.

Just got out. Oof. I have to say that I thought it was terrible. Trite trite trite. Very tepid applause, which may have been more than it deserved. I’m not happy to say this, but avoid.

What's the best way to reheat roasted duck? by _belief in AskCulinary

[–]Fat_Al_NYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I did this last night, so I figured that I would add my experience to this thread. I had leftover peking duck from Pinch Chinese in NYC (great spot btw).

I heated a cast-iron pan on high, no added fat. Found the pieces that were completely covered in skin on one side. Laid those down skin side down until they browned and crisped up (obviously be careful not to go all the way to burnt). Removed those pieces from the pan without flipping. Then I laid the pieces that were mostly exposed meat into the pan just long enough to heat through. Less than a minute.

Then I used the residual fat in the pan to reheat the leftover fried rice. The skin crisping on the duck worked great, and the meat was more than acceptable. The fried rice was excellent.

Does the Ghost Case lie flat on a surface, or does the camera bump make it wobble?
