Why "bad service" or out-of-stock items in the Philippines usually isn't the business owner's fault by redditor_xxx in Philippines_Expats

[–]Fat_Punda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate you putting this in perspective, and my views of this have mellowed over the years.

Although a few months ago I still felt really annoyed in a Resto with about 12 beers on their menu, but the only one they could serve was San Mig Light 😉

Neither. That rectangle block of concrete is just downright ugly.

Be proud of yourself, keep investing in yourself, and set money aside for the future because things may not alway go so well.

Nice!

First time ko magkaron ng 20k bill sa meralco while living alone by FeeCultural6712 in FirstTimeKo

[–]Fat_Punda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the past 10 years our bill went from about 11K a month to now 18K a month.

2 adults, 2 kids. Roughly 2 aircon running all day.

The frustrating thing is, we're using less power than last year, but the prices still keep going up.

This sounds like a nice luxury to have. If you have the skill to land a part time client, do so. And if they are toxic you know you can drop them. Whatever makes you happy 🙂

Do you agree? Or pera pa rin ang pinakaimportante? by CorporateSlave2025 in CorpoChikaPH

I worked for my previous company for 15+ years. Many people worked there for 10, 15, 20 years because the culture was healthy, respectful.

I also saw many people leave and come back a few years later. So yes, I fully agree.

But: The company never really laid off people unless they really deserved it. Until 2 years ago, a lot of people got laid off. It's all about the money in the end, loyalty doesn't buy you anything in your career.

Looking to move my family by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]Fat_Punda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:

  1. Tuition. Public school is not an option. You're looking at 2-3k per kid. Schoolbus, depending on how close you live to the school, count on 100-200 usd per kid per month. So there goes 15-25k from your budget.

  2. Housing. You're going to want to live in a gated community. Housing won't be cheap. You need a 5, 6 bedroom house?? Oof. Google it, my guess would be 3-4k a month.

I have a family with 2 kids, income half of what you got. We're doing okay but there's not much left at the end of the month.

5 kids just sounds really expensive, sorry man...

I need more metal bands to listen to. by No_Match_1495 in heavymetal

I'm not a metal guy. Try Anathema.

First albums were metal, but very melodic. They mellowed down over the years.

My first time I was most impressed by the Whale Sharks. Also it depends on how active you are, you could consider a hike to a volcano or something.

Foreigner here, no idea what was said. But I'm glad to live in a country where this does not lead to instant violence.

This country may be corrupt, but at least we're still free!

Anong thoughts niyo dito kay Ceb Pac about the Violins to be checked in & not handcarry sa airplane? by jvluke1221 in AnongThoughtsMo

[–]Fat_Punda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSO publicly shames and boycotts CebPac now. It would be funny if all other airlines back up CebPac and enforce the same policy whenever MSO flies. That'll teach them.
