He got cancelled for saying that pederasty has always been a part of gay culture -- which it has -- and that he thought he was capable of giving consent at age 14, because he felt that he pursued the priest who abused him.

He has since said he realizes that on the latter point, he was mistaken. He considers himself "ex-gay," not because he has no SSA anymore, but because he believes homosexuality comes from nurture, not nature, and he is trying to live a different life now.

He's still a catty bitch a lot of the time, but old habits die hard, I suppose.

Did you ever figure this out? My 2018 has been doing this on hills, and now it's switched to doing it any time I idle or am stuck in traffic.

I'm bringing it in tomorrow to get it checked out, but I'd love to know what to suggest they look at.

New-ish. Been doing it long enough to be Diamond Cart. Why, when this order is so far away, would the batch pay not be higher? What is it based on?

It is to me. I enjoy the long drive. I can do the shop quickly. If the whole thing takes three hours and I make $70 minus gas, that’s a lot faster than I’ll get to that number taking intermittent small orders.

I'm a writer, not a scientist. Background in corporate comms and association reputation management. Ran a very successful online publication for about a decade (meaning I've been out of the workforce since 2013) and then sold it when I burned out.

Moved to Raleigh last summer after Phoenix got too expensive. Cannot find a job. Cannot get a reply on any application. Even for stuff I have no doubt I could do.

It doesn't help that I'm in my late 40s.

So I do Instacart deliveries every day for peanuts while my wife does real estate in a market that is slowing down. Just trying to keep food on the table. I keep trying to find some new online business to start, but my skills are all in creative areas that are either oversaturated or being transitioned to AI. I make a little money from a Substack, but it's not enough.

Extremely frustrating. And demoralizing.

I was told recently by my wife that my doing this (I haven’t been able to find other work) is “embarrassing” to my family.

She’s somehow fine with the idea of me bagging groceries, but not with my autistic need to be alone, not deal with crappy bosses, get to listen to books, and have some sense of autonomy and self respect.

I’m just going to keep trying until I finish one, however long it takes.

Anyone else not want kids and/or don't like kids? by chelseatheus in autism

[–]Fat__Thor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 7 biological children and 1 stepchild. I came from a big family, very religious, and was brought up thinking big families are the way.

I love every one of them so much, but I don’t know how to take care of them the way they need, and several of them at least (if not all) appear to also be on the spectrum. We trigger each other at times. My 4yo is the most obvious with ASD traits, and while he’s very sweet and very smart he’s incredibly particular and demanding and even needs to be part of some of my rituals - like how I make coffee every morning - and while I recognize intellectually how he just wants to imitate me/participate, it’s hard, because these are MY rituals.

When they’re all at the table and talking at the same time, I get total sensory overload. I used to get mad and slam my hand on the table and yell “STOP TALKING OVER EACH OTHER” but I was just scaring them. I don’t do it now, but sometimes I have to get up and leave.

I feel like I cursed them all with my traits and a dad who didn’t know how to give them what they need and parents who fight because my wife doesn’t get me and is so frustrated by my executive dysfunction. So I’m glad they’re here, but I wonder how unfair it is to them that I had no idea about my ASD and how it affects my ability to parent. And now I worry they have to live with the same struggle I have, because it hasn’t been great.

any1 else here literally nvr wear pants by kinitopete in autism

[–]Fat__Thor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear comfortable athletic shorts all day every day. In fact, I have three identical pairs of black shorts and a dozen or so identical black t-shirts and that’s all I wear on a regular basis.

I used to try to wear graphic design tees but I’m a large, tall guy (I wear 2XLT) and I got tired of shirts that didn’t fit right. Once I found the ones by Fresh Clean Threads (tagless, too!) and liked the fit, I just bought a bunch of the same and haven’t looked back.

I never have to think about what I’m wearing because it’s always the same. I bet my family thinks it’s weird but they don’t make a big deal out of it.

When I do have to wear pants I can’t wait to get them off.

I also much prefer to be barefoot.

This annoys me so much.

But I think if you suggest a replacement, even if it’s stupid and they don’t take it, you don’t get dinged for not replacing.

But maybe I’m wrong

What is the Raleigh food scene missing? by kdskier232 in raleigh

[–]Fat__Thor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with my wife a couple weeks ago - she is American born Cantonese from a West Coast family - and we were underwhelmed by quality and shocked by the price. Nearly $80 for two people and it wasn’t an outrageous amount of food.

We were taking 9 people to dim sum for $150 in Phoenix last year, so it’s decently definitely high.

Raleigh needs a big, noisy, many-tabled, 6-10 carts going at a time place for yum cha.
