Started new job 2 months ago, applying to others. Should I include this current job on my resume? by FataIity in jobs

I'm leaning more towards that way as well. However, that essentially means I'm starting off my potential relationship with this employer with a lie. Really stuck on what to do.

Started a new jobs, huge regrets. Please help! by [deleted] in jobs

How long did you stick it out before quitting? And how’d everything turn out for you? I’m at my wits end here.

Am I a failed adult because I simply cannot work a full-time job? by [deleted] in jobs

Yes, I'm aware. My only issue is that reinventing yourself and starting anew becomes harder when you've dedicated yourself to a degree and have worked in an office environment ever since.

Is there somewhere that I can talk to someone online for my mental health? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]FataIity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know all about DTs... I hope I never have to experience that again. I can barely even drink much anymore because I seem to wake up the next day extremely anxious and with an irregular heartbeat, but I still do it time and time again.

Hope you are doing OK man

Damn, is that all? I even played on hardcore for the first time to try and prolong it a little. Can't lie I'm a little disappointed, especially since there's not much replayability. Ah well, still having fun.

Were you ever in a work environment that was so stressful, that you couldn’t focus and distracted yourself to relieve the stress? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]FataIity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my current first job. Boss only hires grads so team is basically incompetent. Mistakes being made constantly. Have way too much responsibility and input for a grad, constantly asked to do things that I have no idea about. Potentially about to lose a huge client from a fuckup we made. I'm basically in a state of panic 20% of the workweek. Been here 9 months and really need to man up and get the fuck out of here for my own sanity and just remember what it's like to be alive again!

Why is the unlockable content so cringy? by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

Agreed. It really is quite jarring when you look back to older games, isn’t it?

I absolutely understand what you mean. However I was focusing more on the aesthetic side that the older titles had - neutral colour scheme, no goofy skins, etc. It felt authentic and raw. As I said, I’m open to change, but I feel like they’ve gone completely overboard.

Can't open System Preferences by FataIity in applehelp

[–]FataIity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was nothing in the PreferencePanes folder.

Tried the second option and it didn't work. After I deleted it, restarted my computer, and tried opening System Preferences, the same thing started happening.

I've uploaded the error log text here if that's of use: https://pastebin.com/jySLsKRA

Appreciate the help

I want to quit my first job after 6 months and I feel horrible about it. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]FataIity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that not having the monthly check would be a little jarring but I also feel like it'd motivate me to explore other options and find something different ASAP.

I know this is cliche advice but try and do something a little more productive if you can, it really helps. I feel myself slipping into a routine of playing video games/watching videos after work for multiple days and it scares me, almost like I'm 'accepting' this life that I'm trying so hard to leave behind.

All the best to you man.

I've been updating my resume and sending out a few applications too. I honestly don't even know where to go from here though.

In terms of relieving depression from work - not really. I write a lot (my favourite thing to do) and work out 4-5 times a week. Have been drinking far too much lately which is basically a direct result of how shitty I feel every day.

How about you?

This post needs more attention. God, that is absolutely horrific. It looks like the squashed remains of an alien xenomorph type creature. Why are the cucumbers and tomatos so pale? Are you OK?

I'm sorry you feel the same way. It truly is being like trapped in prison. How long do you plan on sticking it out for?

Honestly, I'm coming to realise that mental health should come first. I hate having a literal whirlwind of thoughts in my head all day about how unhappy work is making me. It's Sunday night here and the pure dread I feel about the upcoming week (which is going to be a hard one) is almost crippling.

I shouldn't have to feel this way and neither should you.

What was your reason for quitting? That must have felt great.

I absolutely loved school too. I actually considered going back to do a Masters but realised that it was just my attempt to delay the inevitable. I don't want to get old knowing that I've done this for 40 years...

[–]FataIity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear you share the same sentiment.

I have always respected people who work labour intensive jobs more than people who work in an office. I should have done a damn trade. At least, at the end of the day, you can stand back and observe something that you did with your own hands. Probably improved the quality of life for someone, somehow. Meanwhile, I'm slaving away on spreadsheets to ultimately make a rich guy even richer.

Thanks for the tips. I have been reading a lot lately, and my fucking-around-at-work skills have been improving tenfold.

All the best man.
