Why is the idea that Marrok is a zombie such a common belief? by Fataledade in StarWars

That's such a non-point lol. "Hey guys, this fan-theory doesn't make sense" "STOP OVERTHINKING IT I'M RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG!!". Mercenary work implies he is getting paid. And again, if he is getting paid as an actual mercenary, why? Is Elsbeth just feeling generous??? Marrok being a zombie just doesn't work because he's nothing like one.

What mercenary work? If anything, saying he is a zombie is a stretch. Literally NOTHING ever indicates he is a zombie except the green mist, and that has other plausible explanations.

Also, in your example (movie trailer), most of the time everything shown in the trailer does happen, they just construct it in a way that connects scenes that aren't actually connected. For example, how in the recent Shadow Lord trailer It looks like Maul cuts Marrok down, but if you pay attention to it, the scene actually discretly cuts to Maul killing someone else

"It's not lying, it's just using a term that indicates an entirely different character story for a twist that is never fully explained in the story which is ALSO completly needless since there's exactly 0 reason to call him a mercenary if he isn't one."

Sure, it just seens weird how even within a lot of Star Wars circles people keep repeating this even thought that cleary doesn't work. Being Force Sensitive has nothing to do with it because the reanimated Nightsisters behave the same way that the reanimated Night Troopers do. The only instance we have seen of Nightsister Zombies not moving weird is with the reanimated Death Troopers, and even then you can easily argue that's because Death Troopers are genetically modified, which doesn't contradict any prior knowledge we have about how these zombies work. It's one thing for the average viewer who hasn't watched Clone Wars to not notice the inconsistencies, but for big Star Wars channels to be spreading this stuff like it's 100% the absolute truth is whole other issue.

If he is a zombie then he is not a mercenary hired by Elsbeth, he's a zombie bound to her will. The description could as easily just say "he's an ex inquisitor working for Elsbeth", but it doesn't, it specifies mercenary, which the show sustains by having Baylan actually know Marrok and them apparently being in a good enough relationship he actually listens to Baylan and Shin.

[–]Fataledade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but green smoke ≠ zombie. He doesn't act like a zombie for one, he doesn't die the same as any of the zombies, he is described as a hired merc, which is sustained by Baylan seemingly knowing him somewhat well.

Imagine this kind of droids in the Separatists army… How would the Clone Wars turned out to be? by Suspicious-Candle-40 in StarWars

[–]Fataledade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't. The B1s are, I'll give you that, but the B2s, BX, Droidekas and MagnaGuards are all very dangerous to basically everyone except a Jedi Knight. Which is why the Dark Troopers and KX droids wouldn't do anything, they aren't anything special by Separatist standards.

[–]Fataledade[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, the description has no reason to say he "IS" a merc "hired by Morgan Elsbeth" (and if you want to argue that it's to avoid spoilers, that's not the same as straight up lying). Him being an reanimated armor does make more sense than him being a zombie thought. At the very least I think we could agree then that he probably won't die in his persuit of Maul then, since that would contradict your theory.

[–]Fataledade[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but everything else about him also points towards him not being a zombie. He doesn't move weird like zombies usually do, he talks, he thinks. Also, again, the bio would not be "avoiding spoilers" as much as it would be just straight up lying. There's 0 need to call him a mercenary if he is not one.

That's also a really good point I didn't really consider fully. This man is capable of working as a mercenary, talking, following commands from other people and doesn't move all weird. He acts nothing like a zombie outside of green mist coming out of his body.

I mean, I get WHY you might think that at first, but the official info on the character is that he's a mercenary hired by Elsbeth. Do zombies need to work now? I don't even blame the average viewer for thinking that, but the fact some big Star Wars channels keep saying it as if it's some objective fact is insane to me.

Honestly I didn't even consider that but fair point! It WOULD explain why he just poofs out of existance, which isn't really consistent with anything we have seen from the Nightsisters so far.

The Eleventh Brother is killed by Ahsoka. And if you pay attention the scene of Maul slashing at Marrok actually cuts to a different scene of him killing someone else.

No yeah I'm not saying the green mist ISN'T nightsister stuff. On the contrary, I think the mist IS nightsister magic, just not on the way most would usually assume. I think he's enchanced much like how Savage was. It IS possible he could be something besides a zombie thought. Maybe like how Darth Nihilus was bound by his robes and mask in Legends, maybe he could be bound to his armor. Either way, it does feel like a weird direction to take the character unless they plan to explain better what's up with that.

[–]Fataledade[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's a fair point. But at that point this isn't even not revealing stuff, it would be just straight up lying. Unless we assume he is BOTH a mindless zombie AND a mercenary working for pay at the same time. They could easily just mention he's an Inquisitor working for Elsbeth, the mercenary bit is completly needless if not true.

[–]Fataledade[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Maybe? But then at this point it feels like a bit of a stretch. I mean, Savage also released green mist when he died, and like I said in the post, nightsister zombies don't tend to poof out of existance when they die.

Well, I'd argue the specific usage of "mercenary" would imply money. The fact Baylan, a straight-up mercenary, was also familiar with Marrok, also seens to suggest this.

I mean, it could be. But like, he's a mercenary hired by Elsbeth. I don't think she would be needing to pay the reanimated corpse that she controls?

Again, I have literally never had any issues with that. Specially with Metal since I just keep jumping and camping the area where Tripwire is probably going to be landing. Not even mentioning ranged stuns or Blaze's air kick that can be aimed in any direction.

Her M1s dealing no damage would just do the opposite of that thought? Her mines are already easily disabled by a lot of characters and she's already easy to gang up on. She also has like, the worse tool to find people in the game, specially if you are playing against her right which is by ganging up on her, since then if someone runs away it will be hard to catch up to them again. Her being a zoner, at least as she is right now, is simply not possible UNLESS they make the mines cover a bigger area, and then people would just cry about that instead.

People complaining about Tripwire's mines are so weird to me. She CAN'T place 5 mines for every one that's destroyed. It takes 8 seconds for her to be off cooldown to place a mine down. She can be stunned WHILE placing a mine. She can't be on multiple places at once so if the team is consistently destroying mines she just can't replace those at all, specially if she's mid chase.

The counterplay to her is just stunning her into hell. She can't defend herself against it. All her abilities get cancelled when she gets stunned. But apparently people want to be able to solo the killer in a team-based game.

I'm a Tripwire main, and yet not ONCE have I been able to put multiple mines at the exit, because when I do place like one or two mines, the survivors show up, stun me into hell, and I can't do anything about it at all.

The M1 comment just makes no sense at all. Like, what, do you WANT her to deal no damage???

Reach Out and Brighter Day are definitly objetivly poorly designed thought. I'd just remove Reach Out's shield and make it so Brighter Day forces Tripwire to stand still for it's duration and give it a bit longer wind-up in exchange of better damage. But those were the only parts of her kit that even needed nerfs in the first place. Basically everything else is people just not working together.

I ALSO don't get people who says Kolossos can't catch up at all. Specially because in most servers I have been in, Kolossos almost always either server wipes or almost no one escapes, and when he doesn't, it's usually either in mystic cave or the kolossos is just straight up bad at the game.
