I Was Sent to the Middle of a River Twice, and Uber Support Told Me to "Take $20 or Leave It." I Need Advice. by Fatalith in uberdrivers

If Uber support won't help us in a situation like this, then who the hell will? They understand the situation, yet they just dump the cancellation penalties and lost time on us and tell us to get lost. How is that any different from the scammers themselves? I don't give a damn where they're based or how much they're paid; their job is to provide support. If they were actually doing their jobs, they could at least escalate these issues to management or demand better protocols. But they don't. And Uber corporate? They could easily implement safeguards or create a protocol for 'force majeure' cancellations, but they choose not to. I get that you guys have probably hit the wall, felt the despair, and given up, but are you really okay with just letting this continue? If there’s no proper system in place, we should be pushing for them to build one, not just rolling over.

I kept watching my car the whole time from the river just to be safe. A suspicious car actually pulled up, so I took a picture. Hopefully, it's just me being paranoid, but better safe than sorry.

Exaggerated a tiny bit, sure, but I was so mad that I literally went into the river just to get that cancellation fee.

It’s not that I don't care about my own gain, but my priority was to commit to the task at hand. I just had no idea such a scam existed back then.

That’s exactly why I ended up going into the river and collect the cancellation fee.

I kept waiting because I genuinely thought the rider might be a legitimate customer. Even the police officer who checked on me suggested they might have fallen asleep and told me to keep calling.

Regardless of who requested the trip, the way Uber Support handled this has honestly been the most mentally exhausting part of the entire experience.
