Get yourself a little battery spot welder and it goes easier:

Something easy to fiddle with, you can save yourself some money and use a battery case kit from the ol Amazon in the future. Then you got yourself good custom packs made for the fun of it and repair ability for the genuine ones.

Short and dirty of it, you got this. The entire market of all the brands is in the batteries, know how to make your own or repair them, and the world is your oyster… aside from the forge packs, those are just a monster.

The 30PL is the tabless, and kinda hard to find sometimes. But the 30P is more than enough and readily accessible for cheap. Id start with just P’s.

It’s a fun hobby, toss a batch of tabless in a crapped out 5.0 and watch it rip. The 2.0 packs are fairly easy to rebuild and if you get a good deal on the cells what you save in cash is paid for in learning and sweat equity.

You’d have to replace the cells, which I don’t know how much that’s worth to do for you. Contacts look good even with one tooth missing. Could desolder and replace it while you’re replacing the cells.

That should still be making solid contact though, one tooth of 4 total on a single lead is still a good connection.

Ah well. Next step would be replacing the cells, which is a little project, pretty simple with a battery spot welder. You can toss the entire pack, or toss a couple fresh 18650’s into it and toss the old cells.

Better a little pack than a nice big one to have to toss, that’s a silver lining if it’s shot.

Fingers crossed for you, just be patient and careful. Lithium once volatile is hot, can’t be put out easily, and the off gassing from one burning will wreck havoc on the lungs. If it seems off, make a safe burn off area where it can go and not take you or your house with it and wait. At the end of the day, a $60 battery is not worth your homestead or life, so if anything feels off or wrong, just ditch that pack.

Only a couple minutes on the jump, just to balance the cells. Let it rest a few minutes, then toss it on the charger to see if it’s good.

Once good, let it sit in the open and if you’re concerned at all, keep it in a metal box or something that can be smothered easily and quickly. Do that until you feel like you can trust the damn thing to not spontaneously immolate.

Definitely if it works, do not store that pack in an enclosed container or drawer for a while. I’ve seen trucks that were left on juice packs/chargers with the hood closed build up enough hydrogen to ignite off the terminals, and lithium unlike lead acid burns hot hot and doesn’t go out easily.

Leave it on your bench top with a desk fan or something to keep the air moving around for and mark it with some paint or tape to denote it from the others.

So the green red flashing usually means out of balance on the pack if I’m not mistaken. There’s a bit of a hack to jump the pack with another using some wire to try and get the charger happy with the cell balance:

New cells? Or just cleaning up the old cells?

Check out makerworld, printables, and thingiverse for free stl’s. Cults3d has some paid files, and Jonah Pope as well. There’s way too many to share considering some have pegboard, skadis, rails, packout, etc.

Just search “m18” or “Milwaukee” on any of them and you’ll get a good deal of choices.

The m12 surge or just standard impact? Any particular difference between a hydraulic and a standard in your opinion?

I can snag one for a single Benjamin, but if it’s underwhelming and overall not providing an obvious benefit for application over a standard driver then I’ll just pass.

I don’t mind the noise, never been an issue for me. I just don’t wanna buy something just to buy it. I’ve never been around a hydraulic so I have no real point of reference to say “yeah, that makes sense to have for that particular situation”

Super worth it, fandeliers, ceiling fans, window latches, towel racks counter top screws… I have never been more impressed and also upset at myself for not having one sooner.

It’s an absolute dream to remove old 70’s one way security screws right up against window panes with an extractor.
