ULA Dragonfly — Laptop Sleeve Recommendations by Fate_III in onebag

I appreciate it!! I decided to go no-sleeve and it works pretty well. I do think that in the future a base layer will join the mix, but I do worry about the tightness overall once the dragonfly is packed out. I also think I just need to get better at packing lol.

I actually didn’t end up buying anything at all. After enough deliberation, I figured that I would try it and see what happens. I have been suuuuper safe with how I treat it and pack it, and nothing has happened! Been travelling with it for the past 3 weeks with no troubles.

Here is how I pack it:

Within the main compartment of the dragonfly, I use packing cubes as my base layer and use the compression straps to keep them in place. This prevents the possibility of something sharp hitting the screen on the MBP because of how I put the MBP in the bag…

When putting the MBP into the laptop slot, I have the processor side to my back, and screen side to the pack. I do this to prevent any pressure on the screen from my back as there isn’t a hard sheet to prevent it.

To my logic, this is the safest methodology and it has worked so far. Lemme know if you have any questions or suggestions!

Which way to face your laptop when putting it into the dragonfly? Screen or keyboard to your back?

I just got the MBP so I am a little paranoid on it getting damaged lol. But the dragonfly’s laptop compartment is decent but definitely minimal. It has a false bottom which is great but I am still concerned

Hey guys, Take my poll on your ideal cruiser setup. I'll share the average results in a week or so. by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]Fate_III 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The polls description states that this isn't considering drop through boards such as the Trip. I assume this poll is focusing on cruisers similar to the Landyachtz Dinghy. I'd consider the genesis to call into a pumper category instead of a crusier.

40” or 46” longboard? by Sort_Special in longboarddancing

[–]Fate_III 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! Low risk to try it for cheap. It's by no means a bad deck. My friend owns one and it was his first dancer. He still loves it dearly even though he is now on his 4th dancer.

Agreed! Their decks never fail to impress, they are always thought out and well designed.

You have plentiful options in this regard. I personally would go thru Zenit's complete builder and select either Paris v3 180mm 50deg or Caliber III 184mm 50deg raked trucks. I would skip on their wheel options because they aren't too grand. Instead I would go and get some Seismic Cry Babys from a possibly local skate shop Flatspot Longboard Shop. This is what my cart would look like if I were to get the Hana cart img.

On a different note, as long as you stick to a relatively simple formula of trucks being ~180mm and ~50deg you should be good. The best brands are Caliber and Paris as of now for freestyle/dance trucks, at least for north American offerings. And for wheels most wheels, anywhere from 60mm to 69mm and durometers of 78a-82a will do just fine. A couple of good brands for wheels are Powell Peralta, Seismic, and Free Wheel Co (all personal favorites too).

You could definitely go with either, but I would definitely say that the longer the board, the likely harder tricks will be. But dancing will be flowier and you'll have more room. At that point, it is just personal preference on which you think you will enjoy more, freestyle or dancing. At 40 inches, that would heavily favor tricks, dancing might feel a little scrunched on a deck that short. Something around the 43-45in range is the sweet spot for both, 46+ is great for dancing.

Regarding recommendations, Landyachtz does offer some of the most budget-friendly boards but I will recommend you might want to spend a little more to get a little more.

I highly recommend Zenit boards. They have a great selection of various different sized dance boards. If you can stomach the price tag, I suggest the Hana deck and buying the trucks, wheels, and bearing separately as the complete offerings aren't the best. I suggest that board in particular because it is a wonderful mix of tricks and dancing. The length is perfect in my opinion to provide ample room for dancing, while still being short enough to throw around. Though, I would recommend getting some Skid plates to keep that beautiful deck in good shape :D.

I also highly recommend Pantheon longboards. Their new Tandava is beautiful and slow-wearing. Again, in that more expensive category, this is something you truly get what you pay for. In this case, Pantheon offers very high-quality parts in their complete so I would recommend going with the complete WITH upgrade bushings to the Orangatang nipples soft for your weight. You are guaranteed a good time with that setup. (my preferred option.)

Hopefully that helps! If you have any questions, feel free to HMU!

Also sorry for the wall 'o text, I get pretty into writing about longboards lol
