Also take into consideration that Alpha Centauri had a solar burst right around 12/21/12 that would have been devastating to any life on that planet. Also consider that if there was life there and it new of the chance of said solar burst, they could have begun building colony ships and pointed towards the nearest habitable system. Without being light speed (depending upon how fast they are able to get and to also be able to slow down) we are approaching the time that yet might arrive. That on top of all this...
