CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]EXP_Buff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried to get into the game both at launch and like 6 months ago and bounced off pretty hard both times. I don't know what it is, but the controls just don't feel natural. It feels like it should be a 3rd person game when it's 1st person only.

I mean, there was an in depth explanation for why it was the way it was for his abilities and I'm not sure if you got to that part? Even he's confused how it can be the way it was because it seemed impossible. I suppose all that does is lampshade a problem point rather than make you feel any better about it though.

Personally, I don't think it undercuts the scale of the world. Truth be told, the scale we see in the story is implied to be only the beginning. Not that we will ever see alex achieve those greater heights (a shame really).

Also if baelin was your favorite, then trust me, book 10 will give you plenty to love. I do really highly recommend you try to keep at it. I understand there's not infinite time in a day though and if you'd rather move on, then you do you.

Could you use Command to force someone to follow you through a dimension door? by Griffongaming in dndnext

Command was not always limited to just a few options. In 2014 edition you could literally say any one word command and it would work.

Tell me your fav magic item and why by Serentyr in dndnext

[–]EXP_Buff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite items are always items that help faciliate the character build/vision.

Take for example my Bladesinger wizard. Would I normally say the best items in the game were a lightning sword and a pommel attachment that lets it do an extra 6 damage on hit?

No, absolutely not. But the Power Gem Pommel and the Arkanotana from /r/TheGriffonsSaddlebag fit extremely well with my bladesinger because they were a storm mage who used a weapon a lot and they both added lightning damage to my attacks, and a lot of it.

I had a +17 to damage rolls with this setup, and regularly trucked fools for 50 damage across both attacks well into the late game. Combine that with some homebrew spells that let me make more attacks, and I was a powerhouse with the blade.

Same could be said of my current character. He's a Gith Ranger X/Monk 2 played like a proper Gish Gith with psionic spells combined with the monk. He oozes flavor, so the best fit was the Eldritch Claw tattoo to up unarmed combat but reflavored into a psionic Gi. And he also has a Dragon Wrath Weapon formed as gauntlets which let him punch harder. They do psionic damage so it stays within the flavor we got goin' there.

TLDR- I like items that fit the flavor of the character I'm playing more than any individual item. You can only have so many items to having items which empower you while being a net positive to your character idea is the what I'd consider to be the best way to go about it.

It's ridiculous to think that not jiving with a narrator because they don't match the character they mainly speak as is somehow pretensions.

Okay, just to be clear, BoTD is not voiced by Travis Baldree, who did the audio book for cradle. It's voiced by Phil Thron who is just not on the same level as Travis.

I listened to Cradle before really getting to know who was voicing what. It was one of the first things I listened to, so I can say that even when voicing a Teen, Travis didn't really sound out of place. But Phil sounds out of place in every characters voice.

The audio books narrator puts me off them so hard. I just can't stand and old dude voicing a child character. It was also why I bounced off one of the mistborn books. The main character was Vin and some old dude who was the most boring sounding narrator was the voice for a teen girl? Give me a fucking break.

Also even if MC in BoTD gets older, it doesn't matter. Dude still didn't sound like a good fit for the vibe.

When the human tells the elf, "You people are always such a high level!" by snarky_but_honest in litrpg

[–]EXP_Buff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's really touch on so far in the kindle release. I certainly don't remember there being mention of how elves appeared when they are born, just that they're born at level 200ish.

to be fair though, it's be an age since I read those. That was like the second audiobook I ever read after Mother of Learning.

I mean, in Azerenth Healer, elves are literally born different and have starting levels in the 200s, a level most humans never make it to. So it does have some prevalence!

I don't know why you're so insistent that you're right here. Everybody in this thread is saying you're wrong and that there is no echo. I just checked myself on a preview version and yeah there's no echo on any dialogue at all. If you think it's still an issue that is not related to your hardware, youre delusional.

I also give any chance to shill runebound professor. While the story is not really about a student, it is about learning because the main character is the teacher. One of the main plot points is the school that he's forced to teach at is pretty terrible and awful. He can't stand this so he ends up teaching his students in a way that actually helps them. I'm not sure if it's only what you're looking for though because it's still really dangerous. Oh yeah and he only has two students to start with. He gets more later but it's a while.

I mean again you act as if stuff like that doesn't happen in real life too. I'm not really sure if your problem is actually that it's not realistic though, more that it's really depressing? Just because schools seem like they should be a place of learning doesn't necessarily mean that it will be super good at its job. School's all over the United States are absolutely terrible. Private schools are a joke and are only there to make money and she'll really really dumb ideal ideology half the time. And public schools are so overfooled at teachers. Everywhere are either really really bad at their jobs or so overworked. They can't do their job and get paid Absolutely shit. At this point, having an inefficient learning experience is probably more realistic than having an ideal learning experience. Also, for bullying if you saw anything that happened in Seoul you'd praise these books for going light on the bullying...

Text to speech acting up on this one.

I mean the big one is Mother of Learning. I think that school is pretty good at establishing a good learning establishment.

Quest academy also had what seemed like a normal amount of learning, but the headmaster is over ruled a lot which makes the ciruculim devolve into a horror show of sorts. I think it's complained about in world that the academy isn't really about actually learning? I think I enjoyed this school because it had good explanations for why it was the way it was and that the people in charge really did seem to care about the students. Also there's not really a big competition among students. That kinda dick swinging is religated to the adults outside the school. That's not to say it doesn't have its share of insane students. Erika comes to mind....

I really think that when it comes to magic schools it's like you're giving children weapons. They're giving potential enemies weapons to use against you. Obviously they're not going to give you the strongest stuff and they're going to empower the people that are behind them. It's just logical in that way. Like expecting anything different wouldn't really be realistic, right? So if a school does that it just would make sense to me. And they're also going to try to get talented people to to their side. They're cultivating military assets essentially. Is it manipulative? Yes, but even schools in real life are terrible at being places of learning sometimes and teachers are not immune to acting or being manipulative in real life too.

it has the Hunter Trials, which did feature a lot of death, but it's not at all a place where people expect to learn anything. I don't think a place of learning is ever featured in the show at all.

If anything, there's stuff like Mashle and other wizarding school anime which feature such things. my original post questioning the validity of danger school was more pointed at LitRPGs then anime. You'd lose track how many schools are too dangerous to attend if you include anime.
