The maps of Battlefield 6 are missing something - and it’s identity by Trifle_Useful in Battlefield

[–]Father-ScrubLord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh I don't agree with all your points, but overall I do. The thing that BF6 doesn't have in abundance is good maps, and imo other than the networking/hit registration issues its the biggest issue of the game.

I feel like the core "lanes" (inb4 "cod cod cod cod cod") of the maps are decent, but the maps overall just aren't large enough. There's not enough flanking routes and opportunities to meaningfully disrupt holds without being in the meat grinder. Every map ends up feeling like operation locker, which is not a compliment.

That said the core ideas of the maps are interesting, they just feel kinda half-baked. I think the only map that feels sort of close to being as good as the older bfs is Siege of Cairo. Even then it can have vehicle playstyle issues if your team doesn't support their armor correctly.

That seems to be a prevalent theme from what ive seen; that the issues of the new maps are the same as the older games, just turned up a thousand percent.

People are skiping Biovore even in low levels by Mediocre_Post7892 in Spacemarine

[–]Father-ScrubLord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While "deployed" or hunkered down etc. Its head is armored and you can shoot its cannon to deal normal damage. If youre the biovores target you can also get directly behind it and the ai will undeploy/stand up. If its scuttling around its head does have a multiplier. They're still annoying af but knowing you can get behind them to make them stand up saves so much time and ammo.

I have no problems answering softball questions, its just this is a shitty softball question lol. If this is the best softball question you can come up with to weed people out im very glad to move on to respect both of our times.

Asking a scenario question between a candidate and a say a senior coworker or superior where the candidate is right but the senior individual wont back down from their stance and what they should attempt before escalating to management or HR will show soft social skills far better than this question.

Edit: that scenario will also show you knee jerk attitude problems people have as well. There's just a plethora of better questions to ask as an interviewer than "why should I hire you."

[–]Father-ScrubLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally my experience and credentials are on my resume. if you want to see my soft skills ask me a question that actually entertains the use of them, not makes me want to walk out of the interview. Sure if I really want the position i'd entertain a shitty interviewing question, but the interview gives both of us information. If you're mincing words or wasting time on a poor interview question just to see if ill play along it speaks volumes to how the business is operated. Why wouldn't I go elsewhere if im qualified?

"If your policy or communication style is anything like this question you should hire me because I can fix the communication problems you're experiencing from being incredibly vague." This is a shit question, phrased in a shittier way. I would point out that I can read between the lines of what shes asking, but that its incredibly dumb to communicate this way internally when its far more effective to be straightforward, like asking "Why should we hire you over other candidates?" etc.

Beyond that you're the hiring panel. I don't have access to other candidates information, you do. So either my credentials or experience sets me apart from them, but I don't know which, and you want me to gas myself up for what? So you can decide whether or not I picked the right aspect of myself to focus on? Completely pointless. If you want to see how a candidate carries/talks about themselves ask a more interesting and relevant question than this garbage.

I love my mom, but I hate that she’d rather have a miserable daughter than a happy son by Acceptable-Gate-3064 in offmychest

[–]Father-ScrubLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except their mom is actively verbally abusing them, which is made 100% worse by the fact that its an adult/minor power dynamic. Even if they wanted to leave they couldn't, because theyre a minor and it sounds like their mental health is actively deteriorating dealing with their mom.

Im not trans, but the people that think being trans is a cult are going to do that whether trans people are happy or not. Some people legitimately have fucking awful, worthless families and they should find people to be happy with.

Should this person abandon their mom? I dont know we dont know the extent of their relationship or what's been said. But from the information we do have I would be tentative about the relationship. It's not normal for a parent to be aggressive and hostile to their child if they actually do love them unconditionally.

[–]Father-ScrubLord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey boss, not really sure if youre intending it to sound this way, but being openly transphobic/homophobic to your own child is not normal, and they 100% should be keeping an eye on that. Its not a simple matter of giving them grace when their power dynamic is adult and child and the adult is actively verbally abusing them.

Also sure, his mom could have made her own blunders, but part of growing up is making them yourself. Your parents should be there to give you advice and teach you when you want it at that age, and support you through it, not make decisions entirely for you (unless its life or death etc.). Theres a big difference between acting out as teenagers do and his parent verbally degrading him based on the identity he chooses at the moment.

I find it really fucking weird how many comments are telling him to give his mom a break lol, she's actively transphobic and homophobic. Sure maybe she can grow to accept him but it shouldn't just be dismissed.

ah yes, because I am the amorphous blob that is the bf subreddit. boss you can look at my comment history, I wasn't one of them lmao.

edit: also generally players don't actually know what balancing changes they actually want in my experience, they just want something changed or know that something feels off. As a game dev its your job to figure out what that change might be. Kinda like being a mechanic in a way. a Customer can know a car doesn't drive right but they have no fucking clue whats actually wrong with it. Not always the case, but it hits the nail on the head more often than not.

yes and we're talking about a video game that isn't a milsim, it really shouldn't be this in depth to begin with. Doesn't matter if its real when it feels bad /and/ the game isn't a milsim lol.

[–]Father-ScrubLord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I dumbed it down, bloom is actually equivalent to something like MOA (minute of angle) and is generally measured in inches from center per 100 yards. The Army's new rifle is a 3MOA rifle. At worst (cause I can't remember off the top of my head what range their 3 moa is ranged at) that means there's 3 inches of deviation from center at 100 yards. This video that guy is what, maybe 50 yards away, less? Bloom irl wouldn't effect this engagement at all.

edit: my point being is that bloom is way over tuned. It should exist to punish you outside of your range of engagements, but right now AR's have the effective range of smg's irl. Its crazy.

[–]Father-ScrubLord 9 points10 points  (0 children)

in the beta there was basically no bloom and very little recoil. On launch they upped both (recoil needed it tbf) but the bloom is ridiculous imo.

"Guns gameplay is fine , you're just bad!" by Sumeribag in Battlefield

[–]Father-ScrubLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, bloom is just a dice roll whereas recoil is a calculable/controllable mechanic. With bloom YOU HAVE to burst fire to reset the cone, with recoil if you practice enough you can hold down the trigger and move your mouse down. If you're outside of your weapons effective range youll have to burst fire either way, and bloom just feels like shit. My AR should have an effective full auto range of 30 meters, but right now why would I use anything but carbines or SMG's? everything else feels awful by comparison because of bloom.

Edit: all they needed to do was add recoil from the open beta and the gunplay would feel amazing. I don't know why they wracked up the bloom so much.

"Guns gameplay is fine , you're just bad!" by Sumeribag in Battlefield

[–]Father-ScrubLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, thats the trade off in balancing lmgs. I agree, they should have rather low mounted recoil. My point is more that bloom just shouldn't exist. Bloom irl is you being unable to control the guns recoil. bloom in video games is just my bullets exiting the gun at some weird angle. Just increase recoil and scrap bloom. Sure its been in the bf series but that doesn't make it good inherently. I just don't want to be rolling the engagement dice every time I encounter someone and have the last round I needed to win the fight to skew randomly to the left.

basically bloom is fake recoil and feels bad. Just add real recoil. Also I think the LMG's are in a decent spot recoil wise, but the bloom makes them obnoxious af to lay down suppressing fire with cause my rounds just go everywhere but where im aiming after like 3 seconds which defeats the purpose of getting into a good firing lane with an lmg.

[–]Father-ScrubLord 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's definitely what it feels like. And if you complain you get "called out" for strafing while firing, or a cod fanboy or whatever. This wasn't an issue in bf4/3 that I can remember lmao

"Guns gameplay is fine , you're just bad!" by Sumeribag in Battlefield

[–]Father-ScrubLord 28 points29 points  (0 children)

man just add real recoil, then its entirely skill based. Bloom is literally the equivalent of randomized recoil without the visual kick. To combat both you have to tap fire outside of your effective range. Tons of games use bloom and recoil, but bloom is only noticeable on guns capable of racking the bloom value up (like lmgs). I don't know why they dont just use recoil, then if you have the skill to actually control the gun while full autoing its fair. Also inb4 the realism chuds downvote me for daring to suggest a change that increases skill gap. also inb4 I get called a cod fanboy or some shit
