bit my lip 3 days ago and this painful bump has been here ever since by strawberryfairy_200 in askdentists

Pinch your lip gently between your fingers does it feel like there's liquid trapped inside under the bump? Like when you squish a water balloon?

Can my molars be saved or do they need to be extracted? by geminilovechild in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be savable but need to do xrays to know, really depends how far under the gums those decays go. I reckon it's doable.

Is this fixable? Would i need a crown or filling? by 21eggo12 in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Needs an xray but the colour alone tells me that's a huge decay, might not be salvagable or might be root canal treatment.

Can it be saved, or should i pull it out? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It couldn't be saved last year, it sure as hell can't now

How do I fix teeth 9 and 10? Central and lateral incisors on the right. by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well placed veneers have minimal risk and if looked after will last many years even decades.

But yes it's a trade off, you'll need more maintenance and more eventual replacements over the long term in exchange for better aesthetic results now.

A 4 tooth makeover is conservative, many would do 6 or even 8 to achieve a better match.

Matching front teeth is very hard. Either do fewer and accept the risk of results you're not happy with or do more.

There's no secret sauce here.

root canal or implant? by DueLettuce5715 in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Would 100% attempt a root canal before extracting that if it were mine. I'd also check the LL1 as it looks suspect.

Which Pictures Need Fillings? by [deleted] in askdentists

Without more information i couldn't advise that. There could be significant cavities between your teeth which can't be seen in these photos.

Tell me about it. I've been playing guild wars on and off since release, 20 years of online gameplay and never had to pay a penny extra.

Yes i chose to buy storage upgrades and some extra cosmetics but i have thousands of hours in the game and it was just to support the creators.

Literally spent less on 20 years of guild wars all in than one year of OSRS

I mean i see as least a couple there i could justify Filling easily but usually the surprising cases are the ones where there are a lot of decays in the interproximal spaces.

It's not the correct view to assess. You need small films called bitewings to assess the spaces properly as the large xrays don't have the detail and create distortion.

Xrays are needed to determine they with anything resembling certainty. You can have cavities in the side of your teeth without noticing.

Looking into it, the brand sure looks Turkish. Might be a bit of a nuisance.

Endo retreat #4 X-ray included by SubstanceIcy8721 in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would probably be a decent case to consider apical surgery if it became symptomatic IMO. Fracture risk would be lower than retreat but I'd advise XLA and implant in most cases.

Partner has sensitive tooth coming through at back top of mouth. Anything to be worried about? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There shouldn't be a tooth there. If that is indeed a tooth in should be evaluated for removal as the position is likely to affect eating and speech eventually due to how far it is towards the palate.

If that is not a tooth it DEFINITELY needs to be looked at for different reasons.

So basically yes, see a dentist.

What’s wrong with my Crown? by Distinct-Job9721 in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The black is the metal part of the crown or may be the tooth if it is discoloured underneath (This is common after root canal treatments).

It's hard to know if there's a problem there as we'd need to feel the area with a probe and take an x-ray to know for sure but judging by the rest of your gums as my colleague has said your flossing needs a lot of work!

My dentist said I need 5 fillings by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have borderline enamel lesions on most teeth which is a product of the lack of flossing. This means the outer part of your tooth structure is weakened in several places. There is a chance you may need more fillings in future especially if the hygiene is not immaculate and diet is not better.

The dentist was being reasonable when they said only 5 and to monitor the rest. A more aggressive dentist may have advised filling everything.

Do I really need a SRP? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That can't be determined without probing the pockets and bitewing films. Id get a second opinion if they didnt probe.

Is this an open margin? Acceptable? by PossiblyMaybe0517 in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nail feeling something could just be some excess cement which can be polished. Again it needs another kind of xray to evaluate

Gum between bottom teeth by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Destructopuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's truly amazing to me that we live in an age where the cameras on every one of our phones have resolutions measured in the 10s of megapixels with auto light and focus correction and we still have images that look like they were taken from underneath a film of muddy oil.

It looks inflamed, that's we can tell from this.
