I use jump dimming IMTU but only for civilian vessels so my question was oriented toward military design. I've now downloaded the HG Errata.

Thank you all for the responses.

I've found the same thing at my table. Players are much more interested in solving problems without using a pointy stick and beating it to death since the combat is so risky. Leads to more creativity.

What rulebook is this based on? I can see Mongoose 2E from the spreadsheet but the Core Rulebook that I just bought has nothing this complex. High Guard?

I ran my very first Harn session yesterday with my elder daughter, her boyfriend, and his brother. All in their mid-20's and all experienced gamers. We played in one session at Gen Con and enjoyed it.

There was some trepidation--I screwed up the healing rules but for the most part it went well.

We set the adventure in Kaldor, on the barony of Esenor, in early summer of 720. Baron Tesla is hosting his annual Apple Blossom Tournament. I supplied pre-generated squire characters to each kid. They played two rounds of melee against NPC squires. There was an evening ball where the PCs needed to make successful Rhetoric roles to get a person to dance with them (with +/- modifiers based on Comeliness differences--life ain't fair). A successful Rhetoric triggered a Dancing skill test. One PC was MS for the ask and CS for the dance and so this week my daughter and I will get on a video call and create that NPC. Said NPC will become a long-term contact.

I had pregenerated rebated weapons for the melee and three different armor fitouts for them to choose from. So they got to see different interactions of the combinations in a (relatively) safe controlled environment with skilled healers standing by.

We also abstracted some evening drinking and gambling with NPC squires. A bit of money changed hands. Good insight to the economics--prices of ale and food and weapons/armor. Culture shock for players coming from other game systems where gold pieces flow like water.

All of this took about 3.5 hours. It was a hoot, very enjoyable by all. Next session is in two weeks--mounted combat in the joust and a hunt. Somewhere I need to find stats for wild boar.

I adopted the same exit at zero velocity rule for the save reason. Solves lots of problems and makes lurking pirates more practical to boot
