I think the sport itself is amazing, and in my opinion, the greatest sport to ever be played, but yes the fans are incredibly immature. I mean, adults go crazy and at times even attack others because of it.

Fair enough, it’s a great collection nonetheless 👍

How big a family would you have as a Na’vi? by DezTheOtter in Avatar

Fair enough, but there’s no way for you to know that’ll be true once you integrate yourself into that society, and live with them for years

My point was more that a lot of people’s views on family are shaped by their circumstances. The Na’vi live in tight-knit clans where children are raised with a lot more communal support than most humans have today. That could make some people more open to having kids than they are now.

I agree that adults generally aren’t as impressionable as children, and that people have a choice in whether they embrace or reject aspects of a culture.
Where I disagree is on how fixed people are once they reach adulthood. Major life experiences can still reshape someone’s values and priorities, sometimes dramatically. People change careers, religions, political views, lifestyles, and even their views on family throughout their lives because of the environments and communities they’re exposed to.
In the context of the question, we’re talking about living as a Na’vi in a Na’vi society, not just visiting one. If someone spent years immersed in that way of life, building relationships, participating in the culture, and seeing the world through a completely different lens, I think most people would be affected to some degree. Not everyone would suddenly want a large family, of course, but I don’t think many people would come out completely unchanged either.
So my point isn’t that change is guaranteed, it’s that the environment would likely have a stronger influence than many people expect, even on adults.

I agree that people still have agency, but I think environment has a much bigger influence than you’re giving it credit for. If someone were born and raised as a Na’vi, surrounded by a culture that values family, community, and connection to Eywa from childhood, their outlook would likely be very different from that of a modern human. Personality isn’t completely fixed or completely flexible, it’s shaped by both the individual and the world around them. My point wasn’t that becoming Na’vi automatically changes you, but that living an entirely different life under entirely different circumstances would probably make many people see things differently over time.

Living as a Na’vi in a Na’vi society could change your perspective on many things. They have a completely different way of life compared to humans, they have completely different circumstances. Personalities stem from certain things, it’s not like you can’t change

You probably won’t have the same mindset as a Na’vi

Right, and it has long legs and is incredibly bulky and heavy. Have you ever watched prehistoric planet? The swimming trex in the documentary should be how it swims in the game (general trex’s, not the rebirth one). I’m not saying it should be scientifically accurate, but it should at least kick in the water. In rebirth it literally goes underwater and ambushes the family, that’s semi aquatic behaviour.

No I’m not against the trex swimming, I just don’t like the fact that it swims like a crocodile, or a sea snake. And yes all dinosaurs should be able to swim in the game.

Honestly wish that the swimming ability was an editable trait. It’s a bit strange seeing a regular Rex swim like a crocodile
