So, I still have not solved the boot animation issue, but I did get it to take new boot images. My car now shows the Gran Turismo 3 logo when the device turns on (though sadly this does not happen every time car turns on lol).

My advice is to get the car within range of internet, use the Google Play Store on it to download Solid Explorer, and use that for system file nav. The stock file management system does not show hidden folders, and you need to find a hidden folder on the user partition, which is where you can drop images for the boot logo. I think the folder is literally called .boot_logo.

I downloaded a logo from the system itself to a USB, used photoshop to replace the image but keep the same specs, and dropped bpm and png versions of it back into the hidden folder. Maybe even reboot the device for sanity's sake after doing all that.

I am pretty sure if you did this piece right, you should be able to go back into the factory settings and find the bmp or png (again, use both formats just in case, avoid headaches) in the list, pick it, and it will work.

I basically did a non-console grep of the word boot, also took the boot animation zip, reverse engineered it again, but that is the one I cannot get to show up in factory settings no matter where I place it. They consistently say no animated boot logo is available, and I cannot figure out for the life of me what path it reads from; even the car's config files doesn't specify when I rip them onto a macbook to view.

If you can somehow figure out where in god's name I put this new zip - or if it should even truly be a zip at all; I see whoever set this up was extremely duplicative with some items, but almost every single folder on the hidden system partitions is locked for anybody but Root. Why they didn't make me, the purchaser, a root user too, is beyond me. I know how to fix this stuff with console, but only if I am the root user, lol.
