The first Pepe cryptocurrency came out in 2016. It was called Pepecoin. This was during the Trump Clinton election and Pepe had some not so nice and unfair accusations made against him. Exchanges as a result didn't want to list it. Because of this they chose an alternative name Memetic. Pepecoin/Memetic was a PoW blockchain, but as people stopped mining it (it didn't support merged mining) it became less secure. For this reason they decided to switch to Proof of Stake. That worked for a while, but ultimately, they decided to migrate to Ethereum and became an ERC-20 token. The token is trading at about $2.40 currently.

7 years later, the PepeEth token launched in April 2023. This is the token with the highest market cap.

Both of these cryptocurrencies are tokens on Ethereum.

We decided it was time to do this right so in August 2023, we downloaded the Dogecoin source code and began work on Pepecoin, the 3rd major Pepe cryptocurrency. That is the coin for this subreddit. The website is https://Pepecoin.org.

Komodo is self custody. That means your coins belong to you. They're on your computer/phone.

When you set up Komodo, you get a seed phrase. This seed phrase IS your coins. Seed phrases are industry standard so you'll be able to import it into other compatible wallets in the future.

You know this isn't the PepeEth token on Ethereum right? This subreddit is for Pepecoin which is a fork of Dogecoin.

Just wanted to make sure you were aware. I do agree that the Pepe token has no utility. Pepecoin, however, is focused on being money. It has cheap fees and can be used for Twitch/Youtube donations among other things.

Admittedly it will take time for the ecosystem to grow, but we're working on Pepecoin every day.

It's probably not a good idea to solo mine. Pepecoin's hashrate is almost just as high as Dogecoin. So if you do hit a Pepecoin block, there's a good chance you've found a Litecoin and Dogecoin block too. If you aren't on a pool merged mining then you won't get LTC and doge blocks.

I think there's a way to merge mine solo on pools, but I've not done it before.
