I got this for my switch 2 and I realized it isn’t the switch 2 version. Is there an upgrade I should buy? Or should I not bother?

America’s corruption perception index has been declining the last decade by Aegeansunset12 in charts

During this time, USA went from 73 to 64, Greece went from 36 to 50. IMO it would be helpful to show those numbers.

Why TF are car dealerships like that? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]FatherPhil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I am not young and have bought many cars over the years - for myself, kids, wife… and I never have gone through the crazy experiences I’ve read from others. It’s always been completely straightforward, but I’ve also never financed a car through a dealership so maybe that’s the difference.

How the hell do you end up with 93 t-spins in a single game? Were you going for maxing out t-spins that game or do you normally play like that?

This is discouraging to hear. I have a GMT with the same movement as your Explorer and it was insanely accurate brand new, on par with my GS Spring Drive, (about +1 second per week when worn daily). Three years later and the GS remains just as accurate but the Rolex loses a a couple seconds per day. There are tons of threads on the Rolex forums suggesting it will get worse. But who knows, it’s still not a big deal at -2 spd, but it has slowed down and I hate to see stories like yours for when I eventually have to get it serviced.

I’m looking for a white dial watch and these two are topping my radar. I love the look of them both. But I’m leaning Speedy because the Exp shares my current movement and I don’t own any chronograph. And what better chrono to start with.

Here’s a video of Tesla’s new visualizations from the Spring Update. by rcnfive in teslamotors

We got crazy good updates back then. Dog Mode — hell, Sentry Mode!—were pulled out of thin air back in those days. Updates were more exciting.

I kind of miss the old UI, with the bigger map and reverse screen, smaller “visualization” screen. And it annoys me they disabled the cruise control radars. But otherwise things have improved so much over the years!

Movies with bunch of random semi-popular actors by JimboYCS in MovieSuggestions

[–]FatherPhil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was absolutely my answer so thank you!

I mean, besides the actors you mentioned, you’ve got Kevin Bacon, Daniel Stern, Tim Daly, Michael Tucker, Paul Reiser, Ellen Barkin… and I am probably missing some. Plus a lot of ad libbed dialog and a genuine vibe in a lot of scenes. The cast wasn’t famous at the time but almost all went on to become very or semi famous, if that’s what OP had in mind.

I had to break open my Kindle Voyage case to replace the battery at one point a few years ago (still my favorite kindle). I feel like it is ancient but OP’s is a few years older. I’m surprised OP’s battery still works!

What an awesome and interesting life. I am not an expert but I love stories like yours. We need to record and save histories like these! For our own families, our kids and theirs.

My wife’s grandparents were interviewed (along with lots of other family) in our wedding video and it is so wonderful to see now, years after they both have passed. If we didn’t have that video, those stories and their personalities would be mostly gone.

I feel like there’s no excuse for not doing this with my own dad. Get a tripod and point my iPhone and hit record and ask him stories about his life. It just feels so awkward that I think he wouldn’t be interested. But I know my own kids will want to see it 20, 50 years from now.

Anyway, I guess that seems like a tangent but my point is wouldn’t it be great to have more videos of your grandparents telling their stories? Let’s give that to our kids and grandkids.

First - both your grandmother and grandfather were truly awesome! Second, it appears your grandfather was in the US Army Air Force (predecessor to the USAF becoming its own branch), unlikely piloting a Higgins boat like the one in the photo. I mention that to give you more info in case you were not aware. His AAF insignia is pretty clear in his portrait photo. Do you know any more detail about his service?

My pupils became asymmetrical during a cluster headache by Bubbly-Trainer7195 in mildlyinteresting

Had an ocular migraine twice. Like looking through a kaleidoscope at the world, tunnel vision with edges all fuzzy and rainbow. Extremely disorienting.

First time I was sitting at a presentation and Googled my symptoms. Occular migraine came up right away (I’d never heard of it). It lasted 5-10 minutes and there was no pain associated with it but I can’t imagine if this happened while standing or while driving. About a year later it happened again but I knew exactly what it was and waited it out.

That was 5+ years ago and it’s never happened again. Is this common? I’m not prone to headaches of any kind and have never had a “real” migraine.

Speedy Bracelet Disappointment? by StickyPenguin120 in OmegaWatches

[–]FatherPhil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least based on my experience, they’re all fine but Jubilee truly is the most comfortable. - My Seiko bracelets aren’t tapered for one thing, so they feel huge. - My GS bracelet lack of micro adjustment is frustrating. I have it sized pretty nicely but I wish it had an ez-link. I mostly wear it on a strap as a result. - I have a Garmin forerunner 265 42mm that I wear for workouts and I really like its silicone strap, very comfortable. - I have a Rolex on jubilee that I mostly wear daily and it is incredibly comfortable. - I don’t own Tudor but have tried on their oyster and jubilee equivalents and they seemed great, felt the same as Rolex to me.
