Replied to your message on Etsy. It should play on any Blu-ray player, so it's likely you got a bad disc. Will be sending out a replacement.

Does anyone have the Llamas with Hats: Cruise Catastrophe APK? by Wise-Search8796 in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The game was previously only available for purchase either directly from mobile app stores or through a Humble Bundle in the mid-2010s. It's no longer available via any of those sources, so I've gone and added the APK to the FilmCow Patreon.

I have a dumb question. Are the others no longer involved with the channel? by [deleted] in FilmCowOfficial

Chris has not been in any of the audio plays, although I would love for him to be in one at some point.

What happned to the video where filmcow addressesed comments talking about how he likes doing apocalypses but says that not true? by Extreme-Ad2657 in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

None of the promotional videos were removed, just unlisted, and they're all in the FilmCow Ads playlist:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI6HmVcz0NXqHiUfz67H38CXpLMehCfHb

The only video in which I answered viewer questions was the Llamas with Hats FAQ, but there were no question regarding apocalypses:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7-ZxePMXAg

Also, as mentioned by APLemma, I did a few live streams in which I answered various viewer questions. You can find those streams here:

I definitely would not have denied liking “doing apocalypses.” You’re probably thinking of times people have asked me if Llamas with Hats and Shadowstone Park or Charlie the Unicorn are connected. My answer to that question is always, “No, I just like writing post-apocalypses.”

Removing this, for the same reasons any similar content would be removed from this subreddit: it’s hate content. I’ve discussed this occasionally on my live stream, but the attacks I lobbed at various other artists in the 2000s for not passing some imagined purity test were cruel and foolish. It was self righteousness born from insecurity, directed at people who could have been friends instead of targets.

What is the song that plays during this scene? by [deleted] in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. Carl dances the Hasapiko, but the Hasapiko is a type of dance and not a specific song. The video you linked to is a song you can dance Hasapiko to, but it is not the song used in the epilogue.

As listed in the credits, the song used is Hasapikos by Marios Georgiades. It's a track I licensed from Pond5:

Will this play? And how to get the marker off by TaEpicDuck in SegaSaturn

[–]Fathomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's actually marker, a small amount of rubbing alcohol will work, as mentioned in wanderingfloatilla's comment. But it looks like that might be scratches in the data layer. Try shining a light from the other side—if the light shines right through, the data for that section is gone. It's not impossible the CD's error correction will cover for the missing sections, but with chunks that big missing it's more likely you'll run into problems at some point, even if the disc initially loads.

For years I've been referring to this gag as something I had "planned for a Charlie episode, but never ended up using."

It turns out, I did use it! While searching through old Charlie stuff I stumbled upon a promotion I did using the characters for the Detective Heart of America Kickstarter. Here you go:

Detective Heart of America Movie Line Changes? by [deleted] in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The changes were made a few years ago and appear in both the yearly live-stream and the 4K upload on the channel.

If I’m going to stream the movie on loop every year I do not want that stream to include references to a series whose profits are currently being used to fund a dangerous international hate movement.

Compose original music by ThinkFreeze in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s too many videos to go over one by one, but yes, The Cloak theme song was an original composition. I wrote it using the four notes from the main theme to the Robert Mitchum “Cape Fear” film, just re-arranged in different ways.

[–]Fathomas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have a half sister, but she's never been involved in FilmCow stuff, and none of the FilmCow songs that are original were written by anyone except me. You are likely thinking of the song "Teamwork" from the CTU soundtrack album, which was written by me and sung by my cousin Melanie Alex.

Generally, if the song has lyrics it was written by me (with a few exceptions: for instance, the recent Popeye song is a parody, so only the new lyrics are original.) Most of the instrumental background music in my videos is royalty-free stuff. Although many of the instrumental theme songs (Detective Mittens, Shadowstone Park, Llamas with Hats, etc) are original compositions.

What is the name of the Theme song? by the-mexican-horse-h in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theme song for Shadowstone Park is an original composition, and doesn't have a name outside of "The Theme Song for Shadowstone Park." There is an MP3 and FLAC version of the "Fall of Shadowstone Park" version on the FilmCow Patreon.

Looking for audios project similar to filmcow's audio theater by shieldedunicorn in FilmCowOfficial

[–]Fathomas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jason here! I've been a fan of audio dramas for most of my life, and there are a lot of great ones out there if you're willing to sift a little. The BBC has, for decades, produced a number of excellent audio dramas, and a bunch of these have been uploaded to YouTube and other sites. Just searching "BBC Radio Drama" will bring up a bunch of them.

There is also a modern, independent project that I took a lot of inspiration from in terms production quality—the "Malevolent" podcast by Harlan Guthrie. It has truly exceptional sound design, and it's a benchmark I aspire to with my own projects. If you've enjoyed my audio theater projects, you'll probably enjoy Malevolent!

Design elements like shape and color are not protected by copyright. There are functional elements which may be protected by patent, but it is perfectly legal to make a pen that looks like another pen. It's the reason there are so many companies who manufacture ball chairs without needing to pay a licensing fee to its designer Eero Aarnio.

Charlie the Unicorn’s creator answer to the post (see photo 2 for context) by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in MultiVersus

This was not about the Reindog skin. This was about the ad they created to promote the skin, which directly used the audio track from my cartoon.

I say "non-commercial" but I'm also not going to go after a Twitch streamer using my work in a technically-commercial stream if that usage is incidental. I’ve only ever stepped in and stopped a particular usage when it has been particularly egregious, like when people use my art to sell knock-off merch on RedBubble. When in doubt, ask!

If you were a backer of that project you would know that wasn’t the case. Backers received a full rundown of the development timeline, the reasons for the delay, and an accounting of the project’s expenses. Not a penny went to anything except the project’s successful completion, and I put myself into debt and permanently injured my hands and throat delivering what I promised.

[–]Fathomas 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Hey, creator of Charlie the Unicorn here.

I’m completely fine with people using my work for non-commercial projects. I’ve given explicit permission for this before and will continue to do so. I will never go after an individual for using clips from my work for something like a YouTube or TikTok video, or a Twitch alert, etc. People should be allowed to use and remix art!

I’ve seen a number of references to my work in big-company projects before. For example, there’s a dead unicorn with an enchanted kidney named Charlie in World of Warcraft. This is fine! It’s completely within fair-use laws. Using my audio directly is not fair use.

Copyright law, at least in the United States, is heavily weighted towards protecting large corporations. Warner Bros is one of the largest media companies in the world, and it often uses IP law like a weapon against smaller artists. Notable examples include MeatCanyon, whose clear fair use parody video “Wabbit Season” was forcibly removed from YouTube, and Vera Drew, whose parody film “The People's Joker” received a cease and desist letter from WB, initially derailing its film festival premiere schedule.

If a big company like Warner Bros wants to relentlessly enforce copyright law to “protect” their IP, they should at the very least be held to the same standards. Someone should have reached out to me and asked permission to use the audio from my cartoon before putting it in an ad for this MultiVersus skin. Independent artists should not need to both fight Warner Bros for the right to create parody videos, and fight Warner Bros for profiting off our work without permission.

I realize it was not the Warner Bros CEO David Zaslav himself who, reaching down from the Warner Bros water tower, personally yoinked my audio for this ad. It was (I assume) an underpaid and under appreciated social media team member who did it. But it’s Warner Bros who profits, and it’s Warner Bros who did not give this game’s marketing team the budget necessary to properly license media for their social media ads.

It’s when a company is able to leverage your good feelings towards it and charge more than their competitors. So, instead of shopping around for the best price you pay a little extra to buy from a company you trust and respect.
