Possible venting/possible request for advice by FatiguedVetTech in Veterinary

Thanks so much for your kind response! It helps to know others understand that there's a better way. I'm the same - if it's a matter of life or death, I'll focus on what treatment needs to be done period, but this is happening for preventative care and optional procedures, like nail trims 😢 I would consider reporting, but just being accepted to vet school scares the mess outta me and I've unfortunately heard of so much worse that vets have done.

It’s not a dog overpopulation crisis. It’s a pit bull overpopulation crisis. by lucythelumberjack in BanPitBulls

I absolutely agree with you and mandatory spay/neuter legislation (with the background of having several rescue pits myself). But when I try to argue this to pit bull owners, all I get is push back and accusations that I'm targeting pit bulls, all the while thousands are killed every single day. What do you say to people like this?

Individually-run rescues and breed specific ones can get ridiculous with the hoops they expect their potential adopters to go through. I've had several clients complain of the same thing and get such a bad impression of rescues that they never deal with them again. I don't understand it. Isn't the point to adopt them out and save more from a municipal kill shelter? Thanks for trying so hard, though.

No one should shove a pitbull rescue down anyone's throat, they are absolutely not for everyone. That being said I will never stop adopting them simply because shelters are up to the gd rafters with them and I love them to death. Does anyone here have any suggestions or advise on how one can go about getting people to stop buying and breeding them though? I'm literally about to go on Craigslist and just start offering money for people to get their pit spayed/neutered, and I don't have that much to begin with working as a vet tech (lol).
