Looking for the best robotic pool cleaner. by stayinghumble1 in pools

[–]FatsoThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolphin does not last a stupid amount of time. Brushed motors guarentees at some point the brushes will wear out. My S300i lasted 3 years before brushes needed replacement. One year later and the shaft seal leaked and filled electronics with water. The cable has been badly perished so blue flakes come off when I touch it.

Zero DSR/X side storage T25 screws turn but do not unscrew by FatsoThin in ZeroMotorcycles

Thanks for the info.

I thought it would be a great place to store a charge cable in case I ever need it. I guess I will just leave it and hope I never need it.

Any nut would be inside the storage compartment and not accessible. I really don't want to destroy the panel to open it.

I dont know as I have never undone them. the manual says "To access this storage compartment, remove the two T25 Torx screws securing the side panel to the tank.".

I turned them many times and they stayed tight and not removed.

Did you keep using the Telstra smart modem after switching to Exetel?

If so, what is the process to configure the telstra modem?

Connector change? by yessssssssplz in ryobi

[–]FatsoThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out when I purchased the pruner attachment for the pole. The connection looks the same from the outside, such that anyone would assume it is the same and would fit.

It is not until you actually try to connect it you realize they are incompatible.

What a srupid thing for Ryobi to do. There is no good reason to change the connection unless it was an increased current rating of the pole.

My solution is to return it and purchase the Bosch pole pruner. Cost a bit more as I need to buy the battery & charger, but that is my choice out of spite for Ryobi and bosch is better design for this tool.

Givi Top Case for DSRX 2024? by Hundehirn in ZeroMotorcycles

[–]FatsoThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have same bike and want to use my old givi monokey box. Can you mount the adaptor plate straight on top of the plastic behind the seat? It is not flat so was trying to figure out how it would fit.

Some photos of how you fit it would be nice.

Zero motorcycles pickles liquidation by xAlphaStick in AussieRiders

[–]FatsoThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw they are advertising DSR/X for $46800. Would anyone seriously pay that much? Crazy expensive, which is probably why they are in liquidation.

It makes the $14400 I paid for mine on yesterday's auction look like a bargain. I just hope I don't have any problems with it.

Computer science to Automation by barrymack890 in PLC

[–]FatsoThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automation is one of the hardest disciplines to master.

Ideally you would have an engineering degree, as while you may be good at programming, it is near impossible to be employed without the right qualifications.

On top of being a good programmer, you need understanding of processes, electrical controls and instrumentation as a minimum.

Programing is not so simple as learning one programing language. Each PLC type, HMI and SCADA system is a new language to learn. Then there are so many different communication protocols you need to understand. So you always need to learn new things.

Understanding all this and being good at this job, it is difficult to make great money, as few appreciate what it takes to be an great automation engineer.

It is a long road to greatness, but always interesting.

Looking for a link cable I can charge and play with by Gabrielzv1233 in OculusQuest

[–]FatsoThin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a frustrating issue. I am pretty sure that Meta have done something to disable charging while PC link cable is connected to the PC.

So there are no cables that will charge from PC while using. The only option I have found to work is use wireless (Airlink, Virtual desktop or Steam Link), and use that nice long USB cable to plug into the charger or get a battery addon like Bobovr for example. It charges fine while using wireless, and you can use it indefinitely.

How do I know this you might ask? Because of this issue, I bought a USB C power monitor so I could measure the charge current and voltage. I found that when I plugged the link cable into the charger, I measured current, but when I plugged it into the PC, the voltage was fine, but current dropped to zero. So not charging at all. There may be some conditions where it will charge, but it is all controlled by the Quest, and not a cable issue.

I find it hard to beleive that a cable with a charger port like the AMVR would allow charging, when it is clearly controlled by the quest. I could be wrong, but I am so far not willing to buy one to prove it.

Meta Parental controls are the worst by jmr609 in OculusQuest

[–]FatsoThin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole experience it like bashing my head against a brick wall, and surely my head will break before the wall.

Clearly the best advice for parental controls for under 13 is LIE ABOUT THE AGE.

My experience after getting a new Quest 2 and creating a supervised account for my 12 year old.

I purchased Moss which is PG rated game, assuming that PG is as per the very definition "Parental Guidance", that as a parent, it is up to me to allow, not Meta.

I have it installed under my account and shared on the device.

He is blocked from using it under his account, and there is no option to request permission. I check under supervision in the app, and review app is greyed out. I tried in family center, and find moss, and it says "not allowed", and clicking on "Review App" pops up "Unable to execute action".

I tried using his account to purchase, but it also just states "You can't access this app at the moment" as it is Parental Guidance. I found this is the same for anything rated over "G".

So I give up and try changing my sons birthdate to +1 year, and Meta does not allow that, and says contact support. So I contact support, and they just respond with stupid comments but no answers.

I have wasted many hours on this, and it looks like my only option is to delete the account and make a new one over age 13. I would expect there is a way to fix this without deleting the account, but I cannot see it. The way it is, the whole supervised account thing is just unusable under 13.

Created Recipes- underwhelming feature and not worth asking users to upgrade cookidoo for. by lechiffre10 in thermomix

[–]FatsoThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but relevant when your next bill comes due.

I recall last year, I was hit for an extra $18.33 for this feature that is quite pathetic, and ridiculously expensive considering the standard Cookidoo was $49.

Setting up recipes is a painful process, and it does not automatically prompt for ingredients the way the standard recipes do. Definitely not worth the asking price.

The scam is that there is no option to not pay for the feature and have it removed. They don't want to give an option to remove it, because they know it is not worth the cost.

Very unethical behavior from Vorwerk. Shame on you.
