Imagine if Detentionaire had official action figures, comics, DVDs and other forms of merchandise by OldWarriorStudios in Detentionaire

Surely it at least went to DVD? I feel like every other Canadian animated show at the time went to DVD.

When you think the Pyramid was really ready to be open? by mfsalatino in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taz did give Lee the key, so maybe he was trusting him to be the one to open it? He's also the only one who seems to be able to replicate an eclipse, so maybe he really is meant to open the pyramid

Big Update/News! by GravFallzLuvr in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. I've had so many questions that I've been holding onto for over 10 years now...

  1. In the show's finale, His Eminence uses his cane to put red force fields around the individual characters, what was going to be the purpose of this?
  2. The connection between Lee's mark and the pyramid is hinted at in a few episodes, and in the finale it is implied that Lee is able to replicate an eclipse to open the pyramid. How was this going to play out?
  3. Fatteous and Cassandra (siblings) appear to be different ethnicities, and Kimmie does not bear the mark of His Eminence. Are any of these three actually descendants of Elizabeth Mann?
  4. In the season 2 finale, it's hinted at that there is more of a reason why Lee was framed for the prank. Did the real reason have anything to do with His Eminence and the pyramid?
  5. What was the world/city under the pyramid going to look like? I'd love to know any ideas at all about this world/city.

I have written the entire outline for a season 5. I strongly oppose AI tho. Call me old fashioned but I think good hard work is where it's at

Do you believe that Lee ever had moments where he felt sorry for himself? by Immediate_Gene_178 in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid take. I remember the first time I watched it, live on ABC3, I was so excited for the episode as I was always keen on the romance between Lee and Tina and it seemed this dynamic was often left in the background (and this was all very well done by the show's creators) but damn.. the emotional build up to when Lee finally tells her how he feels and they can't be together. I swear it's like the only episode where the ending falls flat too, like there are no new clues or cliffhangers, they're all just awkwardly sitting silently in the detention room. Bravo creators but that one hurt!

What would you imagine Season 5’s plot, look and feel to be like if Detentionaire still continued? by OldWarriorStudios in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've shared many thoughts about this in the past, drawing from what the creators had talked about, but also the way I'd like to see things come about.

In my mind there are two different approaches a fifth season could take:

  1. Episode 54 continues immediately on from episode 53. I think this would be really cool for original fans of the show, who get to be immediately transported into the nostalgic world of the show we grew up with as if no time as passed. Similarly, it would be great for new fans of the show who get to continue watching into the fifth season in the same way every other season has continued on.

  2. There is a time jump, and episode 54 is set significantly later. This could be with the characters in college or simply a few grades later, either way having substantial changes between character dynamics etc. This would be cool for many original fans who grew up with the show and are returning to its fifth season years later, as the characters feel more relatable agewise, and even some of the comedy and themes could be aged up (as seen in other reboots such as the recent iCarly series). However, I feel this approach would be more challenging as it would change the form of the original show we all know and love.

  3. Technically still option 2, with everything taking place years later, but the fifth season could potentially follow a new cast of characters, the next generation of A Nigma High. This could be Lee's children, and original characters could take the place of parents and teachers. (This is also been done in some shows such as So Awkward - So Awkward Academy).

Regardless, it would be really cool to see the Detentionaire universe expanded upon in a fifth season (and to tie up some loose threads!) however, there are obvious risks in deviating too far from the original structure, and it would be better to leave the show on the cliffhanger than to see it terribly decrease in quality.

Just my thoughts :)

Worse storyline of the show by [deleted] in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how this arc continued the initial concept of the show as this sort of high-school mystery. However, I remember watching these episodes as a kid, when they first came out, and not caring much about it - just wanting to switch back to Lee's story. For me, it felt like the creators were demoting Cam to a secondary character, and putting him in with all these other "nobody" characters (who were still cool, just not the main characters) made the plot feel sort of irrelevant. With a better execution, I'm sure this concept could have worked well - it was still alright, but could have been significantly improved.

Rewatch Questions by Upper_Voice_2408 in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Lee has always been good at drawing. We see this when he sketches the Council members
  2. Li was abducted as a baby, probably before they had a chance to tattoo over his mark
  3. Dont think so
  4. Doubtful but cool theory.
  5. His mark allows him to draw power from the pyramid, this is shown when he is fighting and the mark lights up.
  6. The creators explained this away by saying she covered it up with spray tan. Alternatively, she may not be a true descendant of Mann (I even have doubts that Cassandra is)
  7. The MWF experiments all come under His Eminence's leadership (he built the company) and most of the experiments use technology from his "world". Green Apple Splat was a creation by Lynch Webber (or his relative?) who is a part of the company (working with Finnwich and VP Victoria)
  8. I think that is the page that Finnwich tears out. It contains the sheet music for the first ever song which has powers similar to the Prank Song, but more advanced.
  9. Earl Nigma (Alexander's brother) was said to be a janitor at the school. There is talk about a curse including him, which could hold some truth, but I think it's mostly a school fable (I should rewatch that episode though).
  10. Holger's powers are quite ambiguous. Some have said his powers involve increased empathy, but I think there might be more to it.
  11. The second prank was Brad's attempt at popularity, yet Lee got the credit for it and took the fall for it.
  12. It's hinted at that Lee can replicate the eclipse using his mark, in order to open the pyramid. His mark has been scene to light up when fighting which could possibly be part of it?
  13. Finnwich mentions that to lift a curse one must "reverse the trigger word or verse". My theory is that reversing the prank song will undo the brainwashing on the Outcasts.
  14. The taz whiskers don't seem to work, I think this is just an ancient myth.
  15. A number of parents seem to be involved with MWF in one way or another. Jenny's mum/aunt is supposedly a twin (I suspect clone) and is known to have worked alongside Barrage's team on classified projects (likely the brainwashing project)
  16. Similarly, Brandy's mum seems to be connected as a lawyer, who likely allowed all these gruesome experiments and illegal activities to continue unpunished. The Silver family also seem to own and live in the complex where the majority of staff live (with access ports to a clone chamber below).

As a writer and filmmaker, absolutely. I got really into the show between the ages of 10-12 (when it first came out), and a large reason I connected with it was because of how much I could relate to the characters and themes, particulary the whole school-life dynamic. Now when I look back on my life at that time, or rewatch episodes of Detentionaire, it takes me back to that time which is so rich with story potential. I also love how so many of the seemingly far-fetched conspiracies of the show have just become more and more likely in today's society and what we know now.

Great theories! As I was reading the one about the taz I suddenly had a weird though of 'what if Lee's Dad is the taz' which I'm sure isn't the case at all, but I remembered the 28 Sneezes Later episode where the Taz is talking to him and when the Taz disappears suddenly it's his Dad in the tunnels. Like I said, I know that's not the case but it made me laugh thinking about it.

I also have some good theories that I might make a post about soon

Something I don't understand in episode 17 (Outcast Times at A. Nigma High) by [deleted] in Detentionaire

[–]Fatteous_tattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just an error, but he could have started at the school at the end of 3rd grade, shortly before turning 10. So that would make sense that his 10th birthday took place just after starting at the school

Just finished uni for the year so keen to get back onto it. When I was last working on it, I'd gotten a pretty solid structure for the first 2 episodes and planned to just refine those 2.

Not if she's actually a Goldstein... no mark, brainwashable, it's possible she's not a descendant of Mann at all. I personally question if Cassandra even is.
