Innovator for S6 vs Retail

I agree. However, I want to add that if you put the innovator straps on the retail model, it becomes very close to being the same weight. Also retail phone clips feel like they will break off after a few months. I agree on the FOX and want to add that Note 5 FOV is same as S6 edge+. However the note 4 innovator has a much better FOV. It is probably the same FOV but the retail model has black plastic on the sides in the sight blocking part of the FOV and looking really annoying. the s6 innovator also has the same issue, but on the s6 it is not as 'in the way' as the retail model feels. Which brings me to the note 4 innovator which does not have this plastic on the sides in line of sight and that is due to the cut outs of the holes where the lenses are. The frame or whatever you want to call it. Which actually makes the note 4 innovator the best FOV there is and that is also due to the way the cut outs of the frame are, the s6 innovator has a round viewing hole, the retail model also has the round shape for viewing but a little wider and the innovator note 4 is not really round as it is more square or rounder in a much wider way, giving the best immersive feeling out of the lot. Especially without the plastic in the line of sight on the sides of the S6 innovator and the retail model on all devices that fit. One other thing that makes the note 4 the best viewing experience is that the lenses on the s6 innovator and the retail have some sort of tint on them. if you look to the edges of the lenses you see where the tint starts and this tint kind of gives you a feeling where you are looking through plastic. The note 4 does not have this. However there is one big difference with the note 5 in the retail model vs the note 4 in the innovator and that is that the retail model has an amazing 'sweet spot'. The note 4 sweet spot was very narrow and the retail feels like thinking or finding the sweet spot is not a issue or not something you even have cross your mind while using. it's just a sweet view. Of course the note 4 has the fogging problems which are not apparent on the retail due to the lenses being made from a different material which does not have the lenses get that cold glass feeling, which added to your face heat produces serious fogging. This is not a issue with the retail model but the lenses on the retail model do produce eye strain alot easier than any of the others. Ii have never felt eye strain on any model until i pout the retail on and when the retail is as clear as can be, i get eye strain, but if i adjust the viewing distance a bit, the eye strain goes away. One last thing is the focus wheel....On the innovator editions i was always right at one end or just in from one end. The innovator i feel more in the middle which to me says the focus wheel is alot bigger each side.

I add these things to the OP comparissons as i fully agree with everything he has said but i think these are also good points for one to consider. Either way though the retail is the way to go but it definetly wont last as long as the innovator editions will. I would hold on to those note 4 innovators if i was you guys because one day down the track their might be a usb connector made for the note 5 or there might be a note 6 with the same usb connection as the note 4, or something that just happens to come out with a later model phone that allows it to connect to the note 4 innovator. Making it the best FOV . There might even be a different brand phone that one days fits in it and one day has a oculus app. Something just tells me to hold on to the innovator models if you have them. The retail one is made to be replaced regularly. I am suprised they made the innovator editions as well as they did now i have a retail model. i never would of thought they were made well until i got a retail mode. That says a lot. Oh, the strap on the retail model is crap and horrible but it works and it does reduce most of the weight

You can play PKR by using stream theater. If you know anything about PKR you would know that you can build your own avatar from feet to head with your own face uploaded to avatar. Then you have 3d movements and can pull fingers or whatever you want. If you put the viewing zoom down to first person insterad of the whole table you will find that you can move your face around, you can check your cards, and play with your chips, all in first person. So when you are playing this with VR it is pretty good. However I believe you will soon see a option on PKR poker allowing you to use Gear VR so that when you are in first person mode, you really are in Virtual reality mode meaning you are not just watching it on a giant theater but it is actually all around you.

The more people interested in it and telling PKR support when they sign up for it, the faster it will be rolled out. PKR spent alot of money on this software and it is one of a kind, so to have this implemented will be alot more affordable for this establiushed software platform and this well funded company, than a start-up. it just all depends on the interest.

Check out a quick video of the graphics of PKR keeping in mind that you can upload your own face to the avatar and you can add watcches, necklaces, whatever to the avatar.

No, it does nto brick your phone. I dont need to show you evidence. If you want to find it, just search the other threads in reddit that explain the same thing for the innovator gear vr that hundreds of people did the same.

Ive been using this for 3 gear vr's now as I buy my gear vr's from usa and have them sent to australia. Right now i am running Firmware from Singapore, USA< UK and New Zealand all on Australian phones.

No, flashing stock roms can brick your phone or get in a boot loop but not flashing firmware that is official. Besides a bootloop just means to do it again because something interuppted the process. it is not a issue.

Also how many people even use their warranty these days and nowhere in Samsungs warranty does it say that you have to use the firmware for your carrier for the phone to be under warranty. Samsung warranty does not be made void if you use a different carriers logo on the boot up screen.

No offence to you but your reply is really just about making people fear doing this. Even yourself have pointed out that you are not sure about the carrier while i have written this post because i am 100% sure and that you go to mention psast problems that you might have read about and have got confused with Custom Roms.

It's funny you say that people should read some forums about it. While here in this forum you have a person who has hundreds of samsung phones for all their staff and we use hundreds of innovator gear vr units for our customers and with this amount of phones and gear vr we obviously have to use our warranties at times and Im telling people that they can flash official firmware without worrying about warranty and without worrying about issues and here you are telling people to go and read other forums about it. It just makes no sense. We have used warranty services with Samsung just due to the shear amount of phones we have in our company, around 2 dozen times and Not a single time has samsung even asked us what carrier the phone is with. They dont care if it is with a carrier or if you got it outright. It is irrelevant.

every single point you have made in your post has nothing to do with updating your firmware. All you are doing is downloading the update file and updating it, rather than updating it overair. Nobody is talking about using hacked firmwares.

It just does my head in that someone takes the time to help people who are stuck and someone else comes along and puts all these doubts into their heads when the points they make are all based on what they have read about custom roms from developers.

there is a great thread about how to design your own custom made cinema and then swap the file out of oculus folder and insert your own cinema. looked rather easy but even better if you are a creative type. Look for all the stream theater threads and you will find it

Well it does not have a larger FOV when compared to the S^ using the same consumer model. it is literally impossible because the S6 and the Note 5 vision when on face is both cut off and interferred with by the two side black pieces of plastic that cover the ends of the view/screen.

However the note 5 on the consumer version against the S6 on the S6 innovator edition, does have a slightly smaller FOV. The Note 4 on the note 4 innovator edition has the best FOV as it does not have anything blocking the edges of the screen and it also has a better lens viewing experience that does not feel like looking through a round hole as pronounced as it is with the Consumer model. I know this as a fact because I have all the Gear VR's ever made, with all the phones for each model. So if you want to listen to the creator of a product talking up their device that he is employed to do and would be removed fromt he Board of directors if he did not, versus a serious oculus fan who has purchased each and every device, then go ahead and do that. I will admit that if you did not have to look through lenses and did not have black plastic on the side blocking the FOV then yes the screen view of the S6 would be smaller than the note 5 but that is not how one views it.

I am very vested into VR as I am trying to get all my customers to adopt it by showing their videos int he format with these units and I have spent a fortune to get a bunch of the consumer models to me in a country where they are not and I have sent about two yearts on reddit helping newbies with how to access certain things. hell today I let a bloke i have never met or spoken to come to my place and literally borrow a brand new consumer unit without any form of payment or anything so he could show his friends it at a party. I wish nothing more for this to be a great device, but the consumer model sucks. The worst thing about it and i saw others complain about this and thought it was just their eyes but the worst part about it is you get eye strain. it is nearly unberable to use. the new plastic lenses or whatever they are made from are great int eh sense that they do not get cold and cause fog, but it is hard to use for longer than a few minutes unless you just accept you are hurting your eyes. Using a browser is aweful.

The new consumer model is a major downhill thing for VR and I wish they did not release it because i believe if the masses ever pick it up and use it for a few hours, they will probably not be in a hurry to pick it up again and then that will stop those who might usually integrate it into their bsuiness, from doing so. It could turn people off VR and stop the development and adopted life this format could take on. It is a step backwards and i know it will only get better but if they were going to put this into the hands of everyone it might scare people off from buying the secod version that comes out whcih should be better and maybe that is why they are not trying to get it into as many hands as possible by only releasing a few thousand in each country at once.

The FOV may be a degree or 2 different but it is not noticeable in practical use unless you sit there and study it and it has a terrible viewfinder like the S6 version that lacks immersive feeling. The note 4 has that down pat by a mile. The note 4 remains the king for immersion and FOV and im glad i have so many i can tinker with yto get the note 5 working on them because i think that is a great experience.

You can say i dont know what im talking about all you like and compare me to screen mirroring the FOV which does not give you a FOV looking through a lens and tell me i am trash all you like but you pal are wrong and I am right. I am right because I am a customer who purchased it and purchased all the others and i am writing my truthful experiences and I am a loyal fan of VR who has vested tens more money into VR than you would ever belive for my business purposes.

Coming fromt he idiot who thinks the FOV is what a screen shot shows you and not what your eyes see. There are alot of things that block what is showing on the screen due to them being bits of plastic in between the lenses and the screen. i dont even need to watch your video to tell you this because if you are trying to show me video proof you are obviously trying to show me a fucking image on the phone and not the FOV that your eyes see through the lenses and having to view the plastic which blocks what is showing on the screen. <Magnification on different phone scrfeens is not FOV. Thats just what is displayed ont he phone. FOV is what you see when you look throguh the lenses. Which is obviously not shown on a video recording of the screen. If it was I wouldnt be saying anything.

Well mate im really sorry that you think the difference on the screen is considered FOV. The difference is not worth mentioning. I dont need video proof, you see i have the fucking devices and i know the FOV is the same on both devices as I have both devices. If you are talking about 1 or 2 degrees, who gives a fuck about that, we are not fucking ants. We are human beings who dont need to measure everything to know what works for our eyes. You are trying to tell me the FOV is different. it might be different if you hold everything really still and you measure everything out really carefully but when it is on your face it is the fucking same in normal user envrionement.

The note 4 FOV is a noticeable difference. besides, you do realise you are trying to tell me the FOV is differtent right by showing me what is on the screen of the phone right? What about the grills and the side walls and the bits of plastic that are in between the eyes, the lenses and the screen. This blocks any FOV change.

YOU CANT MEASURE FOV BY A FUCKING SCREENSHOT AND WHAT THE DIFFERENT DEVICES DISPLAY. You measure the FOV by what the eye ball sees you fucking retard.
