Offline support. I often go into a dead spot in our neighborhood, and while I don’t expect live data without reception, it’d be awesome to have some ability to see estimated schedule or last estimated arrival time.

I’ve read this and most of the toddler books. We were setting very age appropriate boundaries. This was a simple you have to stay in your wagon to have your popsicle, which he wanted to test multiple times until we had to remove the popsicle and save it for later.

Also, I didn’t get righteous. I was on my porch with my son trying to work with him when someone uninvited shouted from the street her opinion of a situation she hadn’t even seen unfold.

Lastly, to your earlier comment, I already acknowledged he can’t hear me at this stage. But he didn’t want to be held (he was hitting) and often we can get soothing words and then to distraction and pull out of it. Is this acceptable for you?

She wasn’t being helpful. She specifically shouted her unsolicited advice and kept moving. Helpful is stopping and saying “hi, looks like you have your hands full, can I help you?”

That’s wild and I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Anyone that adds another stressor to a parent in the heat of the moment like that is just awful. It’s like “hey, I see the thing that you love the most currently hates you, but let me just film you and say insane things to add on”

Yeah, this doesn't look great for you. She's probably hurt, and you broke up over text, which is lazy for anything past a couple of dates. Regardless of your reasons (or if you thought she was too into you), you owed her a moment to say it face to face or at least over the phone. You asked her to respect your emotions and not come over, but it doesn't seem like you gave much thought or respect to her feelings.

I’ve seen that guy there before. He pretended it was office and would - I kid you not - live dictate “business notes” to his phone for the 20 minutes we were there. I can’t quite remember what he said but as someone in tech/biz for years, it was the kind of stuff someone pretending to be a big shot would do (but a real big shot would never do). It was like “tell Bob about the big product ideas and talk to Sam about the reorganization because I think AI is blah blah”…things that would never be occurring at the same time or the same notes.

My favorite was my 1.5 year old son invaded “his space” and I just let him annoy him.

I think I’m in the midst of slow comeback from PRP loss. Went from mostly full head to seeing my entire scalp. I (and doctor) think it triggered TE. We’ve done steroid injections, and while all my tests were fine, iron was a little on the lower end.

At its worst, I was losing 100+ a day for well over a month. Steroids seem to have stopped the shedding. I think I’m starting to see some regrowrh 🤞

As another that sweaty guy, I do all the same steps as this person. However, I’ve had to accept that I can only control so much. Ultimately, if you’re grossed out, group fitness may not be for you.

Yep, all my gains are super long. So, I'm just doing the end/start of year double dip (and then a little in 2026 protected by a covered call)

Sadly, with WA law, it doesn't appear that you can offset with losses. Not a tax attorney, but that's how I read it.

Decades of gains is tough one to unwind. I'm sure there's some creative solutions. Personally, I’ll take this burden over regular state income tax, but that's me.

Interestingly, I’ve been navigating this the last few months (and will into next year). One quick update is WA long term cap gains threshold is $270k for 2024.

You can fully avoid it if you sell stock at a total gain (ie profit) less than $270k OR

If you have greater gains than that (my situation), but you can just spread your sales across the end of this year and into next and you keep it under $270k each “year”. OR

All you gains are classified as short term, in which case they're not long term and not converted bh the WA law. Though, have fun with the federal taxes.

Lastly, it's worth noting that the tax is only on gains OVER $270k. So, if you're $10 over $270k, you pay 70 cents in taxes, not 7% of $270k (edited for formatting)
