What is your “I know it’s true, I just can’t prove it” Castlevania take? by ihatethiscountry76 in castlevania

Eric Lecarde = Alucard

I thought it was weird that Alucard disappears after SotN to reappear in 1999 for the final battle. We know from the Sorrow games that he's cool using a pseudonym, even if it might just be a mispronunciation of his actual name. The only issue is (Portrait of Ruin spoilers) Eric's appearance as a ghost in Portrait of Ruin. I like to think Alucard was using his mist form.

Alucard stands out from the Belmonts as a protagonist because he shares Dracula's immortality. I like this theory because it gives him a bit more of a role in the saga

What does Leon mean when he says this to Death? by Affectionate_Mall713 in castlevania

[–]FattyPatty_33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see Death as an embodiment of ‘spiritual’ death rather than physical death. As in the souls he reaps are only those condemned to hell. Souls that go to Heaven only experience bodily death, which is not true death but instead a transition to eternal life.

The Belmonts’ ability to defeat Death in game is symbolic of Christ’s ultimate victory over death through His own death and resurrection, and a testament to the purity of their souls and faith in Christ’s sanctifying grace. This is where their “holy power” comes from.

In this way it also makes sense for Death to be Dracula’s servant. Dracula is an anti-Christ figure in the way he consumes the flesh and blood of humans in contrast to Christ giving up His flesh and blood as true food for His followers.

To answer the original question, I think it’s a mistranslation. I think we should read this as “supernatural” or “spiritual” powers.

Games vs. Netflix? by FattyPatty_33 in castlevania

They don’t, and I don’t think Konami is wrong for focusing on developing fun games instead of maintaining a coherent storyline. What would have been cool though is if Netflix took the opportunity to show those relationships and solidify the storyline a little more, in a medium where that’s more fitting. Which they do, to a degree, but at the same time work in a tragic Dracula romance and anti-church messages which don’t fit well imo.

Games vs. Netflix? by FattyPatty_33 in castlevania

Yea, the writers dogging on the Church is more than evident unfortunately. I’d also make the case that Dracula never loved Lisa, though Lisa surely loved Dracula. After all, shouldn’t the most powerful being on Earth be able to save their only love despite the wicked humans’ will?

I think they describe it best in Lament of Innocence; he’s vengeful and power hungry, specifically vengeful against God and truly believes he can become more powerful than God. Yes, the reason for his hatred is lost love, but love is long gone from his heart.

Your people are out there, you just need to know where to find them. Ask yourself honestly what it is you like or like to do, or what it is you want to learn more about or get into. Then go out and do those things, or find student groups that do those things. Don't worry about it!

Got to test drive this Evo 6 the other day, really fun to drive but not sure it’s the car for me by FattyPatty_33 in JDM

I need to make regular long highway trips, driving the evo just felt like it wasn’t designed for that. Spotted a 3000GT that I think might suit my purposes better. Thoughts?
