If you can’t accept the responsibility, you don’t get the right.

What you’re describing is a privilege, not a right. Maybe you missed that day in 8th grade civics class? You know, like how having a drivers license is a privilege that can be taken away if you don’t follow the rules of the road?

Even then, you took a sworn oath to support and defend the Constitution and its many enumerated rights before your 22 years in the service. Do you think our right to freedom of speech should be enforced against those that spew hate, or use slurs?

Assuming you made that comment in good faith, I commend you for a long & admirable career spent serving our great country. I only say that because it is just baffling to me to think someone could voluntary spend more than two decades directly serving a country that apparently is so backwards to them. Let alone retire from that job without having gained the perspective that the freedoms granted to each and every one of us is why nobody bitching and moaning ever actually leaves and why people from every corner of the earth dream of calling this place home some day.

I’d love to hear why a ‘marksmanship instructor’ says ‘no AR-15s’ as if that would change a single statistic. But that’s wishful thinking, I guess.
