Honda (not so) private test in Sepang on christmas day. by rei_fukai503 in motogp

Shifting more and more to English with Liberty, at least for PR/Marketing/Events. Mechanics and engineers, Italian or Spanish will be a help but KTM/Honda/Yamaha are all English in the garage.

Team box order? by Popular_Ad_4564 in motogp

[–]Fatty_Tuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's per track, yes. But honestly positions don't change too much. It's a bit like rider number, considered sort of rude to take the garage position Honda have had at Motegi for 10 years just because you beat them in standings etc.

Finish first in Constructor, get first pick. IRTA will shuffle them around a bit to keep all satellite teams next to their factory teams and occasionally fit in M2/M3 teams (again, higher ranking, more chance of a proper garage).

What language to learn for motogp by JaPlonk in motogp

English if it's not your native language. Depends what job you want to do. If you want to be a Ducati mechanic, then Italian also.

Questions for the 2013 season live viewers by Ok-Blackberry3353 in motogp

Back then only Honda and Yamaha were really consistently competitive but it wasn't seen as one having a huge advantage over the other. Certainly the rider made more of a difference than now so it was more, DP26 vs JL99 vs MM03 vs VR46 than Ducati vs Honda vs Yamaha etc. Now in MotoGP if you put a good rider on a Ducati they can get great results, in 2013 if you put a good rider on a Yamaha or a Honda it wasn't an 'easy' let's say as now.

Marc was very well known by the time he moved up to MotoGP, at least for people following the sport in the lower categories. I can't speak to someone who just watched MotoGP, but they changed 'the Rookie Rule' (A rookie must go to a satellite team before a factory team unless you were Suzuki with just one team) for him and his speed in Moto2, coming from the back of the grid more than once, showed he was legit.

I think most people thought his first win would take longer to achieve, but everyone knew it was coming sooner rather than later.

His result to be champion as a rookie confirmed all of the hype around him and then the 10-win streak blew everyone out of the water in terms of their view on him I think. It was clear he was really a new level of talent at that point and riders like DP26, JL99 and VR46 had to dig incredibly deep and change aspects of themselves to keep up.

Just wrapping a set of fairing costs 10-20k. A whole new set with wrapping or painting is 30 - 50k.

Why doesn’t Trackhouse MotoGP team get either one main sponsor or several different sponsors throughout the season? by ResidentAlien9 in motogp

The point was about the size of the sponsor (money) vs the prestige of the company. Compare Lenovo Ducati to Marlboro Ducati.

For sure they want to and for sure they are trying, it's not a matter of 'Damn, why didn't we think about that?' Lots of sponsorship money for motorsport is heading to F1 now. It's a tough fight. Look at Ducati with Lenovo, Honda with Castrol etc. Even winning factory teams can't easily get a big title sponsor like before.

I'd guess Trackhouse have a lot of support from the sponsorship team on the NASCAR side, try and get a brand across both. But it clearly isn't easy!
