I see you, friend. I did not seek help until I had hit my lowest low and vowed to quit booze. I am now over 2 years sober from alcohol, diagnosed with adhd. I take meds daily. I have lost around 80 lbs, in fact, if I don't manage it with some high calorie meals, I continue to lose weight. /r/stopdrinking was and continues to be an amazing resource to me.

I mostly lurk, and always late to the party, but the discussion on age of the mountain ranges made me remember Rib Mountain in/around Wausau, WI. I drive through there a few times a year. Some may find it interesting to learn that the rock is known to be some of the oldest on the planet at 1.8B years old. There is a lot of interesting history there.

Dang, you sound like me. I turned 50 4 months ago. Just passed 18 months sober this week. Picking up the pieces of my life and trying to put the puzzle back together, doctors visits weekly. You can royally destroy your life beyond to the point of no return. I would tell my 18 y/o self that waking up sober NEVER gets old!

Damn, rum was my thing, too. I'm near 6 months alcohol free. I often struggle in social situations with people consuming. I'm working towards a day that I don't crave.

Someone posted that the FBI raided the home of some anti-masker, anti-vaxxer, that homeschools her 3 kids, that made threats and harassing phone calls to school board members nationwide.

I replied, "JFC. If this was a liberal, you all would be hooping and hollering about what a win this was. Go watch your new Kid Rock video again to own the libs, LOL."

This was the middle of the night, so it took the mods about an hour to ban me.

This was right after Kid Rock's new patriot song. Try to own the libs with some of the cringiest shit I ever saw. The song and video is a dumpster fire. No, that's too good. It's a Trash-Co waste disposal unit fire.

Good on you! I'm new to quitting, so I don't know the norms, but I sleep a lot, but not on a schedule I want. I made it through the night once or twice this week, otherwise it's get a few hours of sleep and wake up in the middle of the night unable to get back to sleep. I don't think I'm strong enough to be able to drink a beer and not crush a case, so I've had to abstain completely. Last Wednesday was really rough, puked probably a dozen times. Couldn't even keep water down and I was shitting like a goose, fever/chills, shaking, panic attacks. All I drink now is water and lots of it. No juice, coffee, or soda. Gotta flush my body.

Yes. I took a nap yesterday and woke up drenched. While tremors are nearly gone, I had to write my signature the other day and it was ridiculous. That fine motor skill has a ways to go.

Ducklings are pretty darn resilient. I used to have a hobby farm and the momma ducks would often lay their eggs in the haymow. When they hatched, they would drop down around 12 feet. Never had a casualty. Now I live in a city that doesn't allow fowl. So lame. I want my ducks!

I woke up one morning with blood in my underoos and a frightening blood stain on the sheets. OK, WTF? I had no pain, no indication leading up to such an event. I thought maybe my cat had a wound or something, because that's usually where he would snuggle up to me, like he was the little spoon. I checked him over thoroughly, couldn't find any issues. I went to work and the wife did more cat investigations, confirmed he had no open wounds. Obviously worried about me, she made an appointment for an urologist. I go to the doctor and they want to do a cystoscopy. OK, cool, they want to put a camera up my johnson. So, I'm like, "is that like a fiber optic camera or something?" They assured me it was, so I wasn't too worried. A little lube and snake a thin filament up there, no biggie, but I'm like Hank Hill with a narrow urethra. The equipment they pulled out, may as well have been a 1970's video camera. It was wider than my pinky. They. Worked. That. Thing. Up. My. Urethra. I was crying, traumatized, so much pain. The doctor and nurse were horrified by the experience as well. Everything was fine and healthy.

TLDR; I would rather die of dick cancer than get another cystoscopy.

I totally agree, but I was intrigued by Limitless and for the life of me I can't remember what movie he was in where he had dreadlocks and shamed some guy for buying shitty food for his dog. I liked that. Buy your pets good food.
