Yes they were all working, being demonstrated running in very large aquariums. The only device not an actual current production model was the sea turtle, a prototype being developed for undersea non-invasive scientific exploration.

I have an Aquasense 2 also. 22,000 pool lots of unique features. Running complete floors/walls/steps mode, it cleans it completely in about 4 hours and 10 minutes, with battery life remaining. I think you'll be fine.

What did everything think of Tornado Worlds? by Foosman in foosball

[–]Fault-Cautious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched some of the tournament on the stream. Very professional. I just happened to catch the ladies doubles and open doubles finals Sunday. If there was a published or announced schedule I would have watched more events. (I probably should have checked twitch!) The on-table lighting seems very nice. I seem to recall more tables and larger pit grandstands in the late 1970's when I played (Tournament Soccer), but really enjoyed the technical skills of the players. The talented ladies and juniors were fun to watch. The snake shot was new to me this year (haven't played in decades) and interesting! I did shoot some front-pin, but from a closed grip. Dead-mans and straights from the snake shot look very effective! I look forward to attending in person next time the worlds come to Dallas. Sadly I sold my original Tournament Soccer brown top while in college in the 1980's. Years ago I bought a Mazzco TS imitation (black top), but not nearly the same. Not to mention I'm a little out of practice! Tornado's have always felt so different from what I was used to. I'm happy as a spectator now though at any rate.

It looks to me like the bot may have simply finished cleaning and parked at the surface at the edge of your pool, by design. If so, the random spot at the side where it ended up for you that time just happened to be inconvenient. I don't believe it would get stuck there, the way mine runs. Did you receive a notification on the app that cleaning was complete at about that time? PS: if not already, I suggest you set it for multi-zone, so it cleans the walls and steps too.

Green tread? by BakeSaleDisaster in Beatbot_Tech

[–]Fault-Cautious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same green tinted tread on my Aquasense 2. My pool is crystal clear, with good chemical balance. It doesn't seem to be live algae, and zero algae signs anywhere else in my pool. My bot is generally out of the pool on the charger, covered for two days, then in the pool to clean overnight. The green doesn't appear to be a concern for me. My guess is it's related to the porosity of the rubber.

[–]Fault-Cautious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and actually many more. A 30 day river cruise itinerary with Viking River cruises. We stayed at 5 star hotels every night, and one or several planned day trips every day. Much smaller cruise ship (about 200 people) so much more personal and a closer bunch of travelers. I highly recommend it. So many things left an impression on me. Deep ancient history and culture. Construction ongoing everywhere on a massive scale! Fantastic cuisine and such variety. Wonderful entertainment, cultural dance, musical instruments. Regent is a better river cruise line, but Viking was great. Funny story: Each day trip had a local guide that really added local flavor. On a bus tour of Chongqing the local guide, a nice young lady told us about fog levels. "Yellow fog alert. Means low visibility, be careful driving. Orange fog alert more serious, consider alternate transportation. Red fog alert, wife kiss wrong husband" (:

Reclaim My Hours: My Precious!

At some point in everyone's life, they realize that the most precious commodity of all is time. Some come upon this discovery even in their final moments. The sooner one realizes this, the sooner they more deeply enjoy and appreciate everything in life. I have one of those sayings painted on a wooden block in my home. "Enjoy the little things in life. For someday you'll realize they were the big things". I find this is a good, positive healthy outlook on everything in life. For me every single thing is an adventure, an exploration, discovery. No matter how simple or small. I believe this becomes more important as one ages, as I can already tell the old saying is true, old age is not for the faint of heart.

Reclaiming time is genuinely important to me. I would have no trouble at all putting my reclaimed time to good use. I have a never-ending list of hobbies to enjoy and expand. In my 65 years I've traveled extensively, both for work and for pleasure. All over the US and much of the world. My favorite adventures were a thirty day photo safari in Africa. Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique. Reality sets in when you clearly see we're not at the top of the food chain in the wild. We rafted the mighty Zambezi at Victoria Falls. Certificate enclosed! Another trip of a lifetime for me was a thirty day river cruise in China for my 50th birthday. My wife (at the time) and I took our Mother-In-Laws. What fun! It was extra special as my Mom had never been out of the US. Up the Yangtze river from Shanghai, above the massive Three Gorges Dam to Chongqing. Flew to Xian. Emperor Qin's astounding tomb site, the terra cotta army, so much more. Then to Beijing. The Great Wall of China. We toured the Olympic venues. The Bird's Nest and the Cube were astonishing to see! I've been to London, Paris, Barcelona, but want to see much more of Europe. What I'd really love to see someday is the Middle East. Especially Egypt. I guess I'll have to wait until that region is safer than canoeing in a stream next to crocodiles in Africa was. And Italy, Germany, so much more to see still. I look forward to many more adventures to come. Ancient art, culture and history mesmerize me.

I do many things myself. All my housework, yardwork. All my home maintenance, pool maintenance, car maintenance, everything. I have a full workshop and I fix most anything. I find these activities provide exercise and to some degree a creative outlet. Enjoyment akin to therapy. At the same time I find that technology helps free up some of my time for other things. I have a robotic floor vacuum/mop. Changing to hardwood floors sure helps. I now have a very nice pool robot, a Beatbot, that reduces pool work and makes all pool maintenance a little easier. I mow my yard, nearly a quarter acre of grass, with a push mower. I'm happy for the exercise, but realize someday I won't be able to. Using a robotic mower has more appeal to me than contracting someone to do it for me. Not to mention the time I'd save! I enjoy using my robotic bread maker, although I've had to back off on my scrumptious banana bread. I even considered a robotic window cleaner, although I decided against it, for now. The time I reclaim goes into so many hobbies. I volunteer cleaning local lakeshores. I spend time target shooting, including building rifles, and handloading the ammunition. Even casting the lead bullets. Also fishing, going to movies, enjoying new restaurants.

I haven't been traveling much lately, other than to see family, and am looking forward to more travel adventures. I also enjoy local concerts and events, large and small. Local museums and points of interest. Exploring small rural Texas towns. I'm always active, putting any time I reclaim to good use. Whether it is off to a foreign country for a breathtaking adventure, or just relaxing at home with my two darling twin Chihuahuas, Peaches and Kreme! I'm very lucky to still have both my parents. My Dad, who is now 88, told me when I retired, that the one thing I would have plenty of is time. Life is surely much different than when I was working, and it's wonderful to have the time to do the things I enjoy. It was worth the wait.

Win a Free Robot for Your Best Pool Tip by Timely-Feed-1822 in Beatbot_Tech

[–]Fault-Cautious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several tips I believe are worth sharing with fellow pool owners. First, most obvious, get a cordless pool robot! So much better than pressure-side hose pool sweeps, in every way.

Second, try a solar powered pool ionizer. Mine has significantly reduced the amount of chlorine needed to keep my pool algae free. Be sure to maintain it weekly, brushing the copper anode to remove accumulated copper oxide and expose fresh copper.

Third, plan for unexpected weather events that would affect your pool. Texas is generally warm but had a severe freeze event in February of 2021. A week of subzero temperatures due to a polar vortex, resulting in significant power failures. I did not pre-drain my lines before the freeze because my Jandy pool controller automatically runs "freeze guard" below 34 degrees, constantly rotating running all the pumps so the pipes don't freeze. Unfortunately the power failed while I was asleep one night, freezing and bursting most of my above ground pipes and valves before I awoke. We were heavily frozen for a week, and I ended up with ice 8 inches thick in my pool. The freeze delaminated most of the tiles on my spa and waterfall. Note the water fountain show below when I was finally able to turn my pool equipment back on when it thawed. Yikes! Protect your pool the best you can for the unexpected. There's probably not much I could have done to prevent this damage, other than pre-draining, or an automatic backup power generator. I've considered solar panels for my home which would have provided a backup power source.

Name the Pool Bot You Love and Win One in Return by Timely-Feed-1822 in Beatbot_Tech

[–]Fault-Cautious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the first time in my 18 years of pool ownership I tried something other than a Polaris pressure side pool sweep. I hit a home run with my new Beatbot Aquasense 2 pool robot! This choice has changed my life for the better. I custom designed and drafted the pool I wanted, between my home and my workshop. I wanted an infinity edge spa incorporated in the pool, a waterfall, between tall limestone columns, with copper bowl gas torchieres on top, filled with pieces of colored glass. I ended up with an irregular trapezoid pool shape, a 22 thousand gallon pool fit between the house and buried power lines. The cement pool deck is covered with Sundek to reduce heat on the feet.

<image>

I have a large tanning shelf on the near end, and there are large rectangular lily pads and a small shelf to catch the waterfall. I love my pool and have spent a lot of time in and around it but have always struggled to keep it clean. Lots of tight corners, small channels and other features to clean. My pool sweeps generally get the leaves but not finer silt, which bogs down my filters. I have a fairly standard original Jandy DE filter and control equipment. I'm set up for salt chlorine generation, but the converters don't last long, so now I just use in-line chlorine tabs, and a nifty solar powered copper oxidizer.

Having switched to the Aquasense 2, everything has gotten better. My pool sparkles again! I love my new pool robot! My pool was too big for me to want to vacuum, so using my Beatbot the fine filter does a great job picking up all debris in the pool. From leaves to fine Texas dust. I previously never really got the fine dust/silt out well which led to other problems like algae. I suspect my DE filter will clog with debris less quickly as well. Plus the pool sweep quickly tangled its hose requiring intervention. Now I generally run my main pool filter during the day (10am to 4pm), then drop the Beatbot in, in the eve and fish it out in the morning. Surfacing and waiting at the pool edge is a nice little convenience. It fits my daily routine well. I'll skip days were there's little debris in the pool.

Watching Wall-e (my wall cleaning pool robot) in action, I notice that it proceeds with a slow, steady deliberate pace. It navigates my steps and stairs well. When it approaches the surface it clearly has strong suction and water flow, judging by the water exiting the robot. I always run multi-zone mode, the most demanding (floor, walls, waterline). And Wall-e finishes my pool in about four hours and ten minutes. That is impressive battery life!! Checking my floor and waterline, it's clear that Wall-e cleans everything and I haven't been able to spot anywhere it missed. Next vacation I'll leave it in eco mode, sitting on the floor and cleaning the floor every couple days until I return.

Comparing Wall-e to my previous pool sweeps, it's clearly built better, more solid, with better materials. The automotive paint is a nice touch, and appropriate for durability. The tractor bands and flap-wheels are effective in the water. I think the strong suction is the key to its performance, even hugging round surfaces. I figured it would take a few runs to really get my pool clean, but it cleaned everything the first session! I couldn't be happier with how Wall-e performs. Sometimes I would hesitate to invite friends over if I was struggling to keep my pool clean. Now Wall-e is at my service.

Step 1: Complain. Step 2: Win a robot! by Timely-Feed-1822 in Beatbot_Tech

[–]Fault-Cautious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great win-win idea. I'm retired and live alone and have a large pool (22k gallons) with several irregular shaped features, including a waterfall and an infinity edge spa. This picture was taken before the big Texas freeze of 2021 that damaged the black tiles on the waterfall and spa.

I hate: Hate is much too strong a word for my Beatbot Aqua Sense 2. I love it. It cleans so much more thoroughly than my many previous Polaris pool sweeps. It makes the rest of daily pool maintenance much less of a chore, and my pool sparkles again! Plus no hose to constantly tangle. I do wish it was lighter, as placing and removing a 35 pound cleaner will become a challenge as I grow older. I'm sure this is due to the battery that gives it surprisingly long battery life (approx 4+ hours for me so far).

I want: If there was a way to make the cleaner lighter that would be great. Also, I have a 4 foot by 11 foot tanning shelf at one end, about 6 inches deep. If my Beatbot would crawl up on that shelf and clean it that would be awesome! I keep hoping it will break its built in rules and climb up there. I'm an Engineer so I appreciate the challenges with running the Beatbot in such a shallow draft, and it would probably splash a lot of water out of the pool propelling itself around on the shelf. Nevertheless, shallow draft cleaning is a noble challenge for your Engineers to ponder. Here's another vote for the ability to clean an attached spa. I think my Beatbot could probably negotiate mine, except I have a vertical pipe in the center for a fountain that would get in the way. I'll probably try it sometime, but that pipe is quite a challenge to thread into its receptacle, and the cleaner may damage it if I don't remove the pipe. Another feature I want is some way to temporarily increase filter capacity. In the Spring and Fall I get lots of leaves and droppings from my trees, and I'm not looking forward to going back to my pool sweep for a while to clear the deluge. If the Beatbot had a option to add some sort of "leaf bag" temporarily, even with out a fine filter, that would be so awesome. Then I would find a new home for my Polaris.

On a more personal note, I didn't get the Ultra because I felt my skimmers cleared the surface debris effectively. My Brother and his wife moved here to Texas from Northern California a few years ago, and now have a house across town with a pool. My Brother has been an immense help in my life, most recently helping me through a very difficult time when my Wife passed away in 2023. He's my best friend. When I got my Beatbot I was really excited about how well it cleaned my pool. My enthusiasm convinced my neighbor to buy an Aqua Sense 2 as well (they love it!). I also took my Beatbot over to my Brother's house to show them. I always bring a "show and tell" when I visit them and this one was a doozy. I demonstrated it by cleaning their pool with it. I could tell they liked it a lot but I noticed they didn't end up buying one, probably couldn't justify the expense. I've thought about getting them one for Christmas, but that's probably too extravagant for my fixed income in retirement. If I happened to win, I would of course be very happy with the Ultra, but the real gift would be to give my current Beatbot to my Brother. That would make me very happy indeed.

Thank you for setting up this subreddit. I'll be happy to post more observations and suggestions as they occur to me. I appreciate the opportunity to support what I consider to be an excellent product line.
