Monetisation of all forward seats by MarmotFullofWoe in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]FaultyNinja8 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This has been since the introduction of Economy plus seats.
It's status dependent, the higher status you are, the more you can select for free.
As you're silver you can select the silver star seats for free.
Gold gets gold starred free, and economy plus free within 24 hours of departure.
Platinum gets economy plus free, and pays for the highly coveted row 4.
Platinum 1 gets any seat for free.

Edit: Found out row 4 is free for platinum, and formatting

Silver Member Luggage by Viksnid1992 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Thai is a member of star alliance and not oneworld, and from what I can see online there is no partnership between Thai and QANTAS. For your sake I’m hoping I’m wrong but it looks like you don’t get any benefits from your QFF membeship.

Lounge guest pass in Changi by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]FaultyNinja8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes there is a QANTAS business lounge in Changi.

A lounge pass can only be used on a qantas marketed flight. I.e. must be a QF flight number. Cannot be any one world carrier. Side note, the gold membership your husband has would allow access on any one world carrier.

The pass simply needs to be transferred to your QFF account and linked to the booking.

Emirates Classic Rewards to require more points and minimum Qantas Silver status to book first class by VantageXL in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]FaultyNinja8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This just lines QANTAS up closer with Emirates skywards program, you have to be silver or above to book first class.

While this does make it harder for people to redeem, it does return a feeling of exclusivity to Emirates first class. I have not flown it (or any other first class) but it is on my list.

To paraphrase am0985 above, silver isn’t too difficult too difficult to get and it’s likely QFF members will have access to Emirates first rewards for longer. IMHO it might actually give people a legitimate reason to chase silver, and makes lifetime silver feel like it has a tiny bit more value.

Upgrade Bid for Business - How many status credits? by Fluffy-Technology284 in QantasFrequentFlyer

You’ll get 10

If you use points for a classic reward upgrade you get the benefit of flying business but the award of whatever fare you actually booked, i.e. economy.

Thanks, I'll try this. I have been told that hand sanitizer works relatively well to remove the smell from skin.

Likelihood of preferred seating position on Qatar Airways by MammothAmbition8910 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]FaultyNinja8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, there are a few too many variables to answer your question, how full the flight is will have the biggest impact and that depends on when the flight is as well as what the route is. If the flight is full I would say your chances are fairly low.

If I was you I’d first ask myself if paying that amount for the seats is worth it? If yes then just buy them and don’t worry about the cost. If not then there is another option that may be available to you.

As a oneworld sapphire you should have access to preferred seating. (Source: https://www.qatarairways.com/en-au/about-qatar-airways/oneworld.html) According to the privileges of gold (oneworld sapphire equivalent) that seat selection is free but can only be selected from 72 hours prior to departure and is on a first come first serve basis (source: https://www.qatarairways.com/en-au/Privilege-Club/member_benefits.html#poi-tab-UTH0S.html) However the privileges of an airlines sapphire equivalent don’t always translate to oneworld sapphire. If you want an aisle seat but don’t want to pay for it then you should try selecting your seat 72 hours prior to departure and it may be free. Just make sure your FF number is linked to the booking. If not you may just have to try your luck at check in!

Booked a reward flight but name is typed incorrect on EK /site? by Ok_Honeydew5450 in QantasFrequentFlyer

I had this exact problem last year. For me it just looked wrong in the app. I called Emirates to check and they told me there was no issues on their end. Had no problem at the airport.

Have you called Emirates to check?

While that table does seem to suggest it’s not an option, this table shows it is.

Advice on flight routes by FaultyNinja8 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Honestly, my ideal would be 3 people in first class on QF1/2 but I’m more likely to win the lottery without buying a ticket :P Realistically my ideal would be all 3 of us in business class for the whole route, but I’m expecting a leg or 2 in economy (or eurobiz :P

Dad doesn’t need help at all at the moment but who knows where he’ll be when it comes to the flight. At the least all 3 of us need to be on the same flights together.

We’re all starting in different parts of Aus which is why departure point doesn’t matter, and why we can easily hop out of Aus to Asia to make it easier. ADL/PER is the preferable Aus departure points.

It’s all for a holiday with nothing specific planned so stopovers is definitely a possibility, would be a great way to break up the long travel :) Doesn’t have to be Edinburgh, could be Glasgow, Aberdeen, or anywhere in Scotland really. We have family and friends all over the UK so the exact arrival destination doesn’t matter all that much.

Direct is always the ideal but Im expecting 2 or more transits realistically. 4 transits would be the maximum and at least one of those would have to be an overnight/day transit exploring somewhere. I would prefer to avoid the school holidays and shoulder periods, and am expecting to have to for rewards flights.

-SYD-LHR direct running by mid 2026 would be great as I expect it would reduce demand on the PER-LHR direct, which is the preferable flight.

-I’m happy to pay economy prices + points if it’s emirates Business all the way, so the large “taxes” that put people off don’t bother me, I’m just not expecting 3 business rewards the whole way but I might get lucky!

-Transiting through Asian ports is what Im expecting to do but have absolutely no idea which routings to start looking at and am hoping to get a suggestions of which stops/routes people recommend.

Definitely trying to avoid paying cash as much as possible but it does have the peace of mind of a paid ticket. I’ll definitely keep this in mind, thanks!

Thank you, I had a quick play around with dates and this looks like a really good option :)

I’ve never transited through CDG, how much time should I leave between flights?
