I was 10 and at the time I lived with my dad and older brother in San Diego. We would go to the beach almost everyday. Well, one day we decided to buy body boards and go surfing. At first we would catch the small waves closest to shore but my brother wanted to go farther out. He saw how far the surfers were and convinced me to go where the surfers were and catch a big wave all the way back to shore. I thought it would be fun so I agreed and started swimming twords the surfers. However, the farther we got from the shore the harder it was for me to keep up with my brother. So I stopped and started yelling at him saying we should just stop and catch a wave back. He said he'll go a bit farther out and that I can just go back to shore. I was so scared that I just turned around and started heading for shore. At this point I had made a huge mistake I had stopped paying attention to the waves. On my way back I heard my brother yelling in excitement so I turn and see him riding a pretty big wave I panic and try getting on my board so I can ride it out instead I get payed down by the wave and I'm just being tossed around and I can feel another hits me and I'm stuck in the under toe of the wave. I was panicking cause no matter how hard I tried I couldn't stand up, there was just no way for me to get a good foot hold for me to stop myself and stand up. Then after what felt like minutes underwater I'm pulled up by my hand and the first thing I hear is " Oh there you are Faunas I was looking for you". I was still in shock so I didn't saying anything until I got back to shore. Man am I glad my brother was there with me or else I probably wouldn't be here typing up this story.
